The title he won was against Ruiz, another good match for Jones.
Weight drained or not he beat toney with ease, and would always beat toney, its a bad style match-up IMO, toney's defensive style wouldnt be able to live up to the insanley quick-fisted jones cos its a style which relies on being stationary and slipping shots, Toney wouldnt beat Jones even if they both in thier primes not then, not now, not ever.

I agree if they had fought again, toney could have done alot better in the fight, but the result would have been the same, a win for RJJ.

Same goes for Hopkins, a guy who wouldn't have the time to ever pick his shots against a guy like jones, which was why Hopkins didnt wana throw alot of punches in their fight, he knew the counters would be too hard and too fast.

Agreed on Ruiz, but Jones still made the jump from 160 up, Ruiz was the only guy he could have fought witht he least risk to his health.

And anyway, the reasons behind how and why he won are irrelevant.

The point is, He fought them, (Toney and Hopkins) and they are two legends of the sport, so it don't wash when people say Jones didnt fight anyone.

morales should be among the 3-5 top fighters in the world over the last ten years...no doubt about that. that's pretty much the meat of his career...some of the other guys on this list were better before this apparent time period.

if we're just evaluating how good they were at a single point within this time period then i think that ^^ holds true too. morales is the second greatest 122 pounder of all-time, no doubt about that in my mind.

Second of all, its a good list.

I find the treatment of Roy Jones Jr Disgustin, the same people who claim he fought nobodies are the same people who will tell you Hopkins is the greatest MW of all time lmao. rediculous.

''Roy Jones Didnt fight nobody'': Nah course he didnt, he only easily beat up a prime james toney for 12 rounds and easily decisioned hopkins too, not to mention a win over tarver in the first fight, and winning a title at heavyweight after starting at 160.

''But he ducked Darius Michael...whatever his name is''.... lol,.... grow up.

I like hopkins as a fighter, but fighting robert allen 3 times, a blown up tito and De La Hoya dont get him 2nd on my list, nevertheless, he is techinically awesome fighter.

And Morales should be up there higher, how was he not P4P number one in the world when he was moving up weights, taking people's belts and then giving them back again? lol, nope, they gave it to hopkins instead lol.

Prime morales was technically awesome to watch, his jabs, he had one of the most accurate uppercuts of the time, and his movement were top-noch, he didnt have to go all macho and smack the **** outta fighters, but he did, why?.... cos he could.

            Nice list man.
Wow. Ditch Calzaghe due to no-names on his list whilst praising the list and the #1 and #2 at the top. That's why I love this forum.

Yep, very easy, or do we have to go an look at Box-rec to see exactly who Calzaghe beat to be top P4P of the last ten years? lol.

He beat Evans Ashira u know? lol....with a broken hand. lol

If any one would like to suggest that Calzaghe is a better fighter than Hopkins and Jones, and or that he is better than either of those two, or that he has fought the better opposition, please, say so now or forever hold your peace, preferebly the latter. lol.

and the list is in the right direction, never hurts to be positive about people's posts.

                lol

lol rotfl brb oh FFS. You look at Boxrec mate.

I'll argue Calzaghe is a better boxer than Hopkins. Said it 6 years ago the first time that fight was being mooted and I'll say it again now. Hopkins does have the edge on resume though, although he does have a habit of losing to the top class of opponent he's faced.

Calzaghe-RJJ would have been one hell of a tear up if it ever happened and all .... money would have been on Junior but that would have been a bout for the ages 5 years ago before Calzaghe's problems and Jones' ownage by old father time.

I asked YOU to look at Boxrec to see the list of fighters Joe Calzaghe Has fought. It says it all (i agree boxrec is cack, especially their P4P list lol)

If you really wanna argue that Calzaghe is better than Hopkins, make a thread on it and see the response. lol.

And as for Jones and Calzaghe being 'a hell of a tear up'

Lets put it this way, If Byron Michell (and that Bum whose name we all forgot lol) can knock down JC, a prime Roy Jones would knock him out.

As for Jones record Toney and Hopkins UD 12 is better by miles than any name JC has.

There is no shame in not being better than Hopkins and Jones, Not many are.

Conclusion: No amount of Logic can reason JC as a better fighter than Jones and Hopkins.
