Yes, not many of us Americans own passports. It has to do with the American mentality. This is the greatest country, why go to Europe or anywhere else? There is a very ethnocentric, egotistical viewpoint from most Americans and you just happen to see it carry over to boxing. We think we're the best and everyone should fight here. I'll say it again- the great boxers fought around the world- Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali did. As an athlete you should chase achievement- not money. Seeking pure cash is what is killing boxing. These American fighters should line up to go tackle Calzaghe and Kessler in their backyards. They make a bigger name for themselves overseas and they prove they have the mentality to chase the "******* who stay in their backyards".
Everyone is after money nowadays u will see ppl doing things they dont like jus because that is where they can make the most money,so u will always see fighters fighting at the place where they can make the most money, so if its the money calzaghe is after, fine let him stay in wales, if it is legacy he is after then coming to the guys backyard and fight.

      A sage is a wise person - it's a compliment.

I agree to an extent with what you're getting at. I think that there is no doubt that Warren/calzaghe are difficult to negotiate with, but lets not kid ourselves that Roy Jones jnr or Hopkins were any easier to negotiate with. How long did Hopkins wait without looking to make a big fight or leave the US, before beating up on two welterweights who had the guts to step up and gift him his legacy? How long did Roy Jones avoid Dariusz M?

Calzaghe needs to make big fights as does every boxer. But they DON'T need to be in the US. He wants to fight abroad but hey, he's the 168 champ and he can sell out 35,000 against a ****ty reality boxer - why shouldn't Hopkins (hardly a huge US draw) or Taylor come to the UK. i'd prefer Calzaghe to go cross the pond but I don't think he should HAVe to anymore than Hopkins or Jones jnr etc HAD to leave the US.

No man I'm not trippin', but just because an idiotic referee ruined Manfredo's night, it doesn't make Calzaghe any less of a champion.

selling seats are good, but selling PPV is better and far more money in the overall scheme of things...............
