pugilist special has the calzaghe vs reid fight in his thread (in the video trading block), seeing that you dont know about the fight, i reccomend you download it... at the end reid says he lost.....
(plus calzaghe won like 8 rounds of that fight....)Comment

I never saw the fight, i only heard about it and referenced it, if thats the case then i understand. If you know me, im not one to hurl out insult or anything like that, everyone is wrong once in awhile and so am i, so i understand if thats how the fight went down. I obviously heard wrong.
But being wrong about the reid fight doesnt consitute that Calzhage shouldnt travel to fight Taylor because of "hometown desicions" because if thats the case, why ever leave to fight anyone?Last edited by El Jesus; 04-10-2007, 08:46 AM.Comment

i am not inrruiged by this fight, but will still watch it. i'd rather see calzaghe vs kessler instead. jermain is strong, athletic, and can be ruthless, and i can see him even stopping calzaghe(call me crazy), but i can also see joe outboxing the **** out of him to a late tko or ud maybe. but, i'd rather see how joe could handle kessler and vica versa.Comment

*Either of these two, although I've lost a little respect for Cortez after the beating he let Santos Pakau absorb from Paul Williams last year. At least we know he won't stop it early. I'd also vouch for Kenny Bayliss, always superb. Either Smoger or Bayliss, for definite. Never Jay Nady. Never.A realistic offer for the Calzaghe-Kessler fight to happen would be:
- 60-40 split for Calzaghe;
- fight in the US with international judges;
- ref to be *Joe Cortez, Steve Smoger, Jay Nady or someone of similar calibre;
- probably atleast US$5 million on the table to be split.
For Calzaghe - Taylor:
- 50-50 split for the purse;
- fight in the **US or England with international judges;
- ref to be ***Joe Cortez, Steve Smoger, Jay Nady or someone of similar calibre;
- probably atleast US$7 million on the table to be split.
PS. a note on sizes - no real difference between them.
All seem to be decent size Light-Heavy's, & the only reason Taylor's making Middleweight is youth & hard training, & that's not going to last long.
**It's got to be in the US in my opinion. It's about time Joe fought a big fight over there, it really is.

Do you not find it a little odd that these fights that "could go either way" always seem to go to Taylor? I could listen to arguments on the Hopkins fights but the Winky fight was a travesty. HBO puppetry at it's finest IMO.
As others have said, the Reid fight was no robbery, and certainly no home town decision.
People will fall off of the Kessler hype train soon enough. And no, Kessler doesn't have the standing to make demands on venue, or 50/50 splits for that matter.
Because Vegas is Taylor's hometown? Every single one of Taylors "hometown desicions" were competitive fights that could have gone either way, the 2 hopkins and the wright fight could have gone either way, easily. Which is why people argue about those fights to this day.
Essentially your post says JOE C shouldnt come to the USA to fight taylor because of him being the "king" of the hometown gift desicion, when the same could be said of Joe C after his fight with Robin Reid, even though that fight could have gone either way. And Kessler isnt worth travelling for...so then who is? I guess the Ottke path is acceptable to you?Comment
