Chico brought determination, heart, and that will to win in all his fights. I mean he was a real man, no if ands or buts about it. Boxing is going to miss a great fighter, but more importantly his family is going to miss a husband and a father. My condelences and prayers are with his family.

Absolutely heartbreaking to think that we will never see his heart and spirit in the ring anymore. When Chico had a fight, I would not miss it for the world. He was one of the names when mentioned was fighting, you knew you had to make the time for because he was the type of person that exuded the heart, courage, and passion that we all wish we could have. Chico you are well loved and appreciated by those you have inspired. RIP Chico.Last edited by Alibata; 05-08-2007, 11:28 AM.Comment

I am close to all those who were close to him and painfully miss him.
I am afraid that this quick death saved him from an unraveling future.
Chico was done as a fighter. Even the way he died sounds like the effect of a desperate search for thrills. His being a warrior would have frustrated him in his life, I think he did not know where to find his place anymore. Those who know about his past know what ample spectrum of bad opportunities offered by bad companies was there for him.
In some sense he had the privilege to go out in a blaze and not be one of the many fighters who flirt with their dark side for too long after their dark side cannot explode in the ring.
Rest in Peace, DiegoComment

Very sad,
I have been a consistent fan and advocate for Chico on these boards because of his great spirit. While not blessed with the most natural talent he still performed on an Elite level. He fought with pride, passion and heart.
Many have questioned his chin but I have never heard anyone question his heart,
RIP CHICOComment
