WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev feels he is "perfectly prepared" for his first mandatory title defense which is just seven days away. The Russian Giant (46-0, 34 KOs) will battle it out with Uzbek challenger Ruslan Chagaev (22-0, 17 KOs) in Stuttgart next Saturday. As always, he is brimming with confidence. "Everything has gone according to plan in practice," Valuev stated. "The two training camps in St. Petersburg and Kienbaum were pretty hard but very good. I am ready for Chagaev." [details]

He Must Fight Wlad
In his 48th or 49th or 50th fight, he has to fight Wlad and at least one other top opponent (preferably Peter) for the record to have the slightest meaning. We need some unification fights this fall and in 2008.
Ruslan Chagaev is a better fighter than Valuev, but his style is to usually go to the head, and with the 11 inch height difference it will be difficult for him to reach Valuev's chin. But a taller boxer with a good reach like Wlad would do better.Comment

Who cares if he goes 50-0 and then loses...
I think the Record only makes sense if you retire undefeatedComment

There was actually an article here last week (maybe two weeks ago)
That Marciano's record is padded as well.. and all the big names on his resume.. were WAY OVER their prime when he fought them..
That's like Valuev now fighting and beating Tyson McCall Holyfield Toney which now he will and then adding all these names to his resume[/B].
