Could Wilfredo Benitez beat Tito Trinidad? I think so.

Yes, I'll give you the DLH 'victory' cuz even I thought he lost it; but the fact remains that Oscar RAN those last few rounds and he did so for a reason: Tito was too dangerous to even risk fighting those last few rounds. So we wont ever know the true results of that fight, since Oscar got on his bicycle. (Mind you, I'm not saying that Tito would have caught him or not; it's just as well Oscar would have continued boxing and won the fight easily. But we will never know.)

Yes, he did hit Vargas low; and it was not the first time he hit a fighter low to gain some recovery. But you said yourself, that Vargas wouldnt have won; so the blows make no difference in the outcome of the fight. We're not talking about if you respect a fighter or not (I'm a fan of Tito's, but even I'm not crazy that he did that), it's who or who didnt he beat.

You make a good argument, and I respect that you actually were man enough to post an INTELLIGENT response, rather than make a ******ed comment, especially from a noob.

I look at it this way...Tito is usually ranked in boxing 'experts' top 10 all time welterweight rankings. Benitez usually isnt (at least not top 10). Imo, Tito can pull off the win if he catches him with that hook or pounds out a UD. But as another post stated, it Benitez is on his game (look at the Duran and Leonard fights) it's quite possible that he would pull it off. It's an intriguing matchup.
Good post man, i enjoy having intelligent discussions.

I do think Tito would take Benitez and i know he was a good ww, but i do think he is overrated...in fact i think he looked even better at 154 but he didnt stay in the division long enough to make such a statment...

firstly, thebadboy, sit down dog .. you're making yourself look like a moron, talking all off subject and not relating anything you're typing to anything that's being talked about.

secondly, like someone in a prior post alluded to, IF benitez wasn't lazy in the gym and had a normal training camp i'd see benitez keeping tito at the end of his jab and lowering that right hand pretty often on tito's chin. tito could erase all that w/ a left hook, but when the bible of boxing was on his game, dude was nasty.

**** that, benitez would own all the WW's of today, i think.

Benitez was slick, but he fought off the ropes alot. Now you KNOW if anybody would, Tito would capitalize on that.

Wilfredo was a slick fighter, but that left hook from Felix was an unexpectedly sneaky punch.

point taken, however, if we're talking about mythical match-ups, then its shared knowledge what fighters strengths and weaknesses are, SO, if el radar wasn't being a complete moron in the ring and messing around, i'd see him in a cautious boxing state ala DLH while sometimes imposing himself on tito.

don't see tito winning this one.

My money would still be on Tito. He had that eraser. I think that he'd catch up to Benitez, eventually.

At this point...Anybody from Mexico or LA should be banned from making comments on PR fighters. These undercover Mexicans area trip on this forum. Indians acting all macho like they are Spaniard bullfighters...too much. Just say no to envy.

Nah, I got mad respect for the Azteca fighters. They got heart and you have to respect their warrior spirit. It's only a few out there that talk ****...and it's a small few.

A man with a quicker, sharper, scarier eraser in Thomas Hearns wasn't able to dispatch Benitez...and his abilities were on a different level in regard to Trinidad.

Trinidad would have to land his luckiest Sunday punch on Benitez to stop him. I don't see it happenin. If were posturing that Benitez is on his game then I think we see a big time box fest with Trinidad coming out the loser.

thank you. that is exactly what i was going to write.

hearns did not stop benitez. therefore tito would not. outboxing benitez is not an option for tito.

Tough fight to call, I think that a game Benitez could have beat Trinidad by D...But you can't never count a prime Tito out. The man was a beast at 147-154.
