Agreed it was a low level tuneup, but that doesn't change the fact that he stifled an undefeated wrecking ball in Cintron, former champ Andrew Lewis, and Mediocre prospect Kyvelos, and outworked the guy who was teaching Baldomir a lesson untill he decided to get sadistic.

See.....Looking in retrospect it's not impressive I agree....but AT THE TIME they were all pretty damn solid fighters and that's the difference.

Baldomir beat on two guys who were nowhere near their best. Gatti is finished and Judah is a loose cannon.

The fact of the matter is:

Baldomir was the legitimate Welterweight champion of the world, by beating the Undisputed WW champion, and demolishing a solid contender in Gatti.

Floyd made just as much, if not more in the Baldomir fight, than he would of with a fight with Margarito.

I really don't see how anyone can say Floyd ducked Margarito.

Can you honestly say to me with a straight face, that had Floyd fought Margarito instead and won with the same ease he did with Baldomir, that a plethora of people on this site would not be calling Floyd a paper champion who just beat an oversized, overrated punching bag in Margarito?

People were already claiming that Floyd was ducking Baldomir after he beat Judah, because Floyd decided to fight Judah first.

Every single fight in Margarito's career would be considered a tune up for Floyd Mayweather. That is a fact.

Judah gave Mayweather the second hardest fight of his career behind JLC and Baldomir has a win over Judah.

You are hyping a fighter who struggled with Josh Clottey, went to war with Daniel Santos, lost a one-sided fight to Rodney Jones (a guy Spinks just beat 120-108 a few months ago), and has never beaten a top 5 welterweight in his career. Margarito has been in the game over 10 years and he has a resume that's only slightly better than most prospects. Let's see if he gets by Williams and the Cotto-Judah winner to see if the hype is justified...

Margarito would be following mayweather around the ring getting pot shotted and hit all night. Margarito isnt "more atheltic" his footwork is awful and he could barely cut off the ring against ****ing Daniel Santos! He didint have enough "pop" to stop Zab, yet we all know Zab was likely on his way to getting knocked out which is why he pulled what he pulled in the 10th. Margarito would never land on floyd, Margarito with no head movement and no ****ing defense would get stuck all night, following floyd, even if he tried to cut off the ring, floyd is too fast, it would be a ****ing shutout.
well then why din't floyd take that fight if margarito would be the same as baldomir, win or lose may 5th he should make the fight happen w/margarito and unify.... i think he was offered 8mil. for that fight

You are suggesting that Rodney Jones is even close to what he was when Margarito fought him. That is false. Jones is done, whereas he was not done when Margarito faced him. Furthermore, you need to get away from using boxrec as a source for how a fight looked.

So obviously Rodney Jones was a dominant welterweight back in the day and he was ****ing everyone up including Margarito.

The fact is Rodney Jones has never been anything more than a fringe contender back then, which is all he is now. The fact still remains Margarito was DOMINATED by an average fighter. He can't beat southpaws, he can't touch slick fighters. He is a very limited fighter who has looked decent against limited opposition...

Next you're going to tell me how great Kyvelos, Gomez, and Lujan were in order to further hype Margarito.

Margarito is nothing special. Floyd fought a well known fighter for the same cash. End of story. I don't see the point of bringing this **** up. 90 percent of Margarito's fans Floyd haters.
