""When i think of the tale of oscar del la hoya vs felix trinidad.. it's a story of 2 guys who weren't quite what we thought they were, we got del la hoya who put on this spectacular showing--but couldn't close the show, Then we got trinidad who had a guy infront of him asking for a reason to lose and trinidad couldn't give him one"
Bottom line, Tito had 12 rounds to KO DLH..and couldn't, DLH won that fight..we all know it, Just like i told kingroy earlier this year, As for legacy goes..soon as trinidad got some loses he ran off to the mountains of PR forever..what a wack ending, As for DLH..he took some loses and kept boxing..that is why he is simply more respected, a better boxer..and a better legacy..

The only reason he is even mentioned in the same breath as ODLH is because of his gift decision over him.

i choose Tito because his style is more exciting than DHL and the prime Tito throws alot of punch before he went for the one shot chance and that when Tito when down

            Undisputed super welterweight champion

            alphabet title at middleweight

            notable wins:

            welter:

camacho(post primebut not that far from his prime)
            Carr(prime)
Whitaker(end of career, 2 years after De la Hoya)
            Campas(prime, not that good)

            superwelter:

reid(prime, impressive victory, but Reid was kinda untested )
            vargas(prime)

            middle:

joppy(prime, not that good but it was impressive that he koed him)
mayorga(post prime and not in his natural weight)

            losses:

            hopkins
            wright
            should be De la Hoya

            Oscar De la Hoya

            6 wieght champion

paper title at 130 and 160

            notable wins:

            lightweight:

Molina(slightly post prime but good opposition when you have 16 fights...)
Ruelas(prime, this made him the linear champ at 135)
            Hernandez(prime)
            Leija(slightly post-prime)

            light welter:

Chavez(post prime but still an impressive victory)
Gonzalez(prime, undefeated alphabet titlist at 135 with some defences)

            welter:

Whitaker(post prime but still p4p fighter, close but De la Hoya won it by aggresiveness and activity
            Camacho(old...after trinidad)
            Chavez(old)
Quartey(prime, close but i think he won)
            Carr(post trinidad but still good)
            Arturo Gatti(just a name)

should have tito trinidad if he wasnt robbed

            super welter:

Castillejo(prime, but more tough than good)
Vargas(post trinidad, but still very good)
            Campas(post prime, not that good...)
Mayorga(post prime, but more in his natural weight)

should have shane mosley 2 if he wasnt robbed

            losses

            Hopkins
            Mosley 1
            should be Sturm

IN MY OPININION OSCAR DE LA HOYA HAS BY FAR THE GREATER LEGACY, BECAUSE TRINIDADS REIGN AT WELTERWEIGHT WAS LEGITIMIZED BY HIS VICTORY OVER DE LA HOYA!!!! AND WE ALL KNOW THAT FIGHT WAS A ROBBERY...

Couldn't have said it better.....no contest DLH better fighter. Not to mention DLH BEGGED Trinidad to rematch him by inviting him and his father to dinner and he and his father said no. They knew what time it was.........

It was my hope that they would come to terms for May 5.

This other fight was my not on my personal radar.

Unless you're a boricua, Oscar's name and legacy will outlive Tito by leaps and bounds. Not saying he was better than Tito; just that's the way it spins with their pub.

This is my line of thinking. Oscar wasn't dominant enough at higher weights. Trinidad was not as versatile as Oscar. Trinidad is certainly the greater Welterweight.

Your analysis exhibits biasedness towards ODLH. One can argue that DLH's loss to Tito was controversial, but one cannot avoid the nondefining wins that he was given against Pernell and Sturm and di****able loss to B-Hop. IMO DLH's win over Sturm was much more of a robbery than the loss against Tito.

Tito destroyed careers.... Vargas, Reid, Joppy, Thaim, Mayorga, Campas, and Carr never fought the same after being demolished by Tito.

One can argue the technicalities of the wins, how impressive they were and how dominating the performances were manifested, but when looking at the raw facts DLH technically accomplished more. The real boxing fans who actually saw the fights, and followed their careers, knows who was more convincing in their wins and title defenses.

And remember Vargas, Carr, Campas and Camacho had already been demolished by Tito when DLH fought them.
