Does having a thick physical beard really help one's chin?

a beard has no effect whatsoever....its hair, hair does not absorb force from a punch...

its a mental thing. Helps keep you a bit more confident if you think a guys punches wont hurt as much.

i guess it would only work until you get hit and find out that it DOESNT actually work.

yes having a beard helps just look at hagler. he shaved his facial hair into the exact pattern creating a force field which no one could crack. also his bald head created a slippery surface where punches just slid off. what a cheater at least hes finally exposed and we can ban him from boxing forever

No, not at all. What I'd be concerned about is when sweat gets on the beard and in close quarters, it could cause cuts on the opponent. But as far as cushioning a punch, not much so.
