Does having a thick physical beard really help one's chin?

a beard the size of kimbo's, sure, it has plenty of effect. you see it blunts the force of the blow compared to if it were shaven. thats why in amateur boxing u gotta ****in shave before u box in there. at least in louisiana.

of course it really matters whether or not u can take a punch but even the guys who can take a punch if they get blasted on the chin by the right person, they're goin down, and that beard will add a little bit of cushion if its big enough.

look at ruiz. he was always hurt when he was clean shaven. okay, maybe thats a bad example. i think even with a beard tua woulda ktfo him. rofl

a beard has no effect whatsoever....its hair, hair does not absorb force from a punch...

Of course it does. To more easily determine things like this just extrapolate it to a more extreme level and think of a really massive beard, which would be like a protective cover of impact-absorbing material protecting ones face.
