Is Evander Holyfield USA's only hope for a Heavyweight Champion?

Hey everyone. Brand new to the board. I have been a member of Maxboxing.com for about 4 years now ,i saw this Boxing site in the Google search and joined to talk Boxing with more boxing fans.

I was at a sportsbar today watching the UCLA vs Kansas game and we were on the subject of the Heavyweights division. My boy's were talking about there will not be a USA Heavyweights champion for the next 10 years and i paused, and i was like dang ,you got a point. The American Heavyweights in the US are that bad. Majority of the potential champions are playing NFL football as Tight Ends or basketball as Power Forwards.

Considering the lack of USA talent in the division do you think 43 year old Evander Holyfield is the only hope for a USA Champion in the division? On paper he should be knocked out rather easily by Klitchko ,but Evander has always been a fighter that has the ability to shock the world.

brewsters chances are no better than holyfields.. i guess the question is more from the "after briggs loses who will be next" perspective..

it may damn well be 10 years, but i here there is a very talented young fighter named isiah thomas who is the future american to watch

i like calvin brock, i think he'll have a title at some point...

lamon has far better odds than damaged goods holyfield......there isnt a champion id favor holyfield over...... i could see lamon beating both maskeav and briggs..... and he has a W over wlad...

i havent seen tim witherspoons kid....he's undefeated and has pedigree.... that means dollars.....he could potentially get a title shot within the next few years...

depends how his eye is..... if its good, he has as good a chance as anybody in this wide open division.

Chazz Witherspoon is actually his cousin for the record, they went into it when his fight was on FSN. And right now, i cant really think of any american that would beat Wlad. and hence be champ.

There is some point but I think even Byrd has better chance!

Do you mean titleholder, cause Briggs is american, or actual champion?
I think he does not have much of a chance to be honest.

your not the brightest bulb in the box are you? holyfield is a great american contender. but also, lamon brewster has beaten wladimir already. so i say no holyfield is not the only valid usa contender.
