Green can fight at super middleweight- that is not a problem for him, and people here would rate him higher than Manfredo in terms of appeal.
Anthony Hanshaw and Jean Paul Mendy are names as well because of the SHOBOX tournament and they have beaten better competition than Green has. Vitali Tyspko put a good effort against Lacy and has looked better than Green has. Manfredo is a bit of a weak opponent but is getting better under Roach. Green just has been hyped on ESPN and isn't a bad fighter, but he isn't deserving of any title shot. A fight with Kessler is the best thing for Calzaghe for trues fans of boxing and to truly cement his legacy. Plus if money is what he is searching for this fight will generate quite a bit of it for him and Kessler.

Super fights rarely happen when they should, because of management. It usually takes years longer then when the fights should go down. Calzaghe has trouble getting big opponents, because he is dangerous. Kessler will have the same problem. Calzaghe wants some big American names on his record, but he himself is not a name, so he'll have trouble getting agreements. Kessler wants to fight Calzaghe, but he's not a big American name, so Calzaghe's management will stay away from him. People are always saying fighter X is ducking fighter Y, but they never discuss how managers and promoters fit into that. It's completely reasonable to expect fighter X is not going to get the fight he wants because of promotional bull**** and will get stuck fighting sub-par competition that just wants a paycheck.

Red menace you said Joe wants the Americans but he himself is not a name. I would have to disagree in that i think Joe is a name. The Americans can try to pretend that he isnt a name but believe me he is. He is as much of a name as is Hopkins or Pac or Hatton or Castillo, PBF are.

              In the UK only.

By that sort of reconning, Kessler is a far bigger name than any of them - but only in Denmark. And what's the use of that when we're talking about being a "name" in the US?

Right now NOT having fought Kessler is detracting from any effort Calzaghe has done to build a "name" in the US. Not that many ppl know or care about Kessler. But they see Calzaghe having a genuine rival he hasn't taken care of - or who he is perhaps even ducking.
As long as he's not even seen as being able to take care of business in "his own" division, I think ppl outside the UK will find it hard to respect his (and his fans) claims of being vastly superior to all these P¤P names Joe has got his eyes fixed on.

Yeah but he took care of Lacy who at the time people rated but when Joe whips his ass, that win is swept under the carpet so to speak. Lacy was a genuine rival and Joe took care of him to build a name in America. America know who Lacy is but dont know who Kessler is. Are you with me? Once Joe beats Kessler, people will try and dismiss Kessler as well! That is how the game works and i am sure joe understands this.

Kessler will beat Calzaghe should it happen, Kessler is quicker, has power, good skills, better technician, and is ****ING HUGE, he could probably make Cruiserweight/ Lt Heavyweight if he wanted to

Calzaghe would beat Kessler by points in a hard fight might even stop him late. I think Kessler has robotic movement is predictable, but is very strong with a heavy punch.I don't think Mikkels chin has been tested yet. Joe will be too busy for Kessler tho.And whoever said Kessler is faster than Joe should go to spec savers.

Mate get a grip here....really. This is all like Margarito syndrome! Everybody in boxing likes to think everybody is ducking everybody else. Its got **** all to do with that! There is absolutely no real evidence that I have seen that Kessler stands more a chance of beating Calzaghe than Lacy did. Kessler is a big guy but I dont think he is up to much.......truthfully and I am able to watch all his fights here in the UK. I hate his footwork and I dont think he has much variety by way of comninations. That straight right is his money shot. Just like Margarito I think people just love to bull**** on and on about people avoiding each other. Calzaghe will fight Kessler before he retires thats for sure........and he will win! It just doesnt make any sense for him to do it yet!
AS for the guy mouthing off about who has Calzaghe fought............THATS HARDLY HIS FAULT NOW CONSIDERING THE WEAKNESS OF THE DIVISION! But he whooped Eubank as a youngster and hasnt looked back since!!!
