Boxing should lower the gloves to 4 oz, or no gloves at all.

Boxing will not die, but it will have to be competitive to keep up.

It will be like the NFL vs. MLB or NBA

It's a shame the NHL has taken a huge hit. I was never a big fan of the sport, at least not watching it on television, but I did hear it is the best sport live. NHL players are tougher than MLB, NBA, and maybe even NFL. I give them credit.
not really .. boxing is more like street fighting.. called a "Fair one" in all the cities in the usa

Keep the MMA threads in the MMA section with its 2 fans, I'm really getting sick of hearing about MMA or UFC in the boxing section.

This is a boxing board with boxing fans so MMA fans stop posting in the boxing boards!

Not that there is anything wrong with writing a novel.. But I can assure you most readers on THIS Site dont have the attention span to read deep thought ptovking material.. and when they do they simply go to the home page..
Your second misconception is THAT I am not a student of the human condition..Which is why you make a comment such as me thinking WAR is new..
Now your writting might also be about war and statues and ancient cities of forgtten lore..
But All I am concerned about when I come here is Boxing.. And that is what I am responding to..
Sorry you felt the need to be defensive ...
LOL..no, my concern is about boxing. I think boxing needs to do something to get back in the spotlight. I love the attention the Oscar vs. Mayweather fight is getting, but that is one fight.

I want to see better competition and opportunity for fighters.

I want the sport to become more appealing, so they need to figure some things out on how to market the sport.

My problem with the glove size is that it causes less damage, easier to block punches, and nobody is going to want to pay for a sparring match. If boxers want bigger gloves, fine, but they are going to take a hit in the pocket.

I also think boxing needs to give yellow cards out like they do in some MMA fights. Yellow cards for giving a fighter a warning if the match is dull/slow/no action. Fighters must fight, the fans want this, they pay for it. If you don't fight, you should be fined, if not have your purse withheld until a hearing.

If MMA continues to grow, the athletes are going to go there, not boxing; you go where the money is.

          Boxing needs to act now.

I have seen fights with just fists, but more so with everything is used, after all, you weren't born with just fists as weapons; unless that is the way, they fight on your street. Most people I know that have gotten into fights use everything they have, except teeth biting and testicles shots since it is frowned upon and if you do that, people will step in and kick your ass.

Actually, MMA has been around for a long time, it just has not gotten the attention until now because it finally became more mainstream.

For it disappearing for years and years, where the **** had boxing gone for so long, up until they brought it back?

Both never disappeared, but went into the shadows of society until light is shined upon it again.

Eventually MMA will have to do the same. We all hate the thought of this, but one day somebody is going to die in a prominent MMA match. When this happens, there will be inquiries, and the sport will be hit with stiffer regulations.
FACT: more people die in car accidents every year.

FACT: more people die from alcohol use.

Fact: the ancient Greeks and Romans had better fights, more violent fights, more deaths, yet they accepted, and enjoyed the sport.

FACT: we are becoming *******. Hey, this might not be bad if we evolve as humans. In order to evolve I would guess we would have to get away from sports that deal with physical contact, but I am not sure I can handle calling people "Stardust" and "Lillyfire."
Maybe I could handle this, but I would have to wait until my testosterone is shot or suffer serious withdraw.

The Greeks compared combat sports as a Metaphor of life.

Here's some modern day pancrase, it's pretty much mma but strikes have to be open palmed. This is where guys like Bas Rutten, Frank & Ken Shamrock and Genki Sudo made a names for themselves. At first PrideFC was formed to pit Brazilian Ju-Jitsu vs Hybrid Pancrase. It's pretty good stuff, but it will never replace boxing in my books.

Oh and boxing gloves are the way they are to protect the fighters hands, not for the other fighters safety. If safety was the reason for the gloves then they still need bigger ones.

a down fall of mma is that stikers prevail and last longer .. a shooter or wrestler have to take a hell of a beating and to then just make a guy tape out after taking blows to the head from a guy like silva is nuts..it will all evolve back to boxing..kick boxing is underrated by all tho
