Boxing should lower the gloves to 4 oz, or no gloves at all.

Boxing will not die, but it will have to be competitive to keep up.

It will be like the NFL vs. MLB or NBA

It's a shame the NHL has taken a huge hit. I was never a big fan of the sport, at least not watching it on television, but I did hear it is the best sport live. NHL players are tougher than MLB, NBA, and maybe even NFL. I give them credit.
dude are you serious? what were you smoking when you came up with that.

I don't mind MMA, but I love boxing. I really don't care if MMA becomes more popular because I will always stick with boxing.

Obviously you don't read much, that is OK.

I guess by your thinking, War is new.

There are not only writing on boxing, wrestling, and Pankration, but their are statues and painints, like

        Ancient city of Santorini

        Famous ancient statue

OK I read plenty..In fact I read so much that when I come on a BOXING site I tend to to want easy banter and 1 paragraph discussions..
Not that there is anything wrong with writing a novel.. But I can assure you most readers on THIS Site dont have the attention span to read deep thought ptovking material.. and when they do they simply go to the home page..
Your second misconception is THAT I am not a student of the human condition..Which is why you make a comment such as me thinking WAR is new..
Now your writting might also be about war and statues and ancient cities of forgtten lore..
But All I am concerned about when I come here is Boxing.. And that is what I am responding to..
Sorry you felt the need to be defensive ...

You see, the gloves in boxing are the way they are because boxing has had to endure ring deaths and therefore refine safety regulations. We can't just go back to the bare knuckle days and put fighter's lives at greater risk because it would make it more exciting. Wait, translation, more exciting for blood thirsty neanderthals.

Eventually MMA will have to do the same. We all hate the thought of this, but one day somebody is going to die in a prominent MMA match. When this happens, there will be inquiries, and the sport will be hit with stiffer regulations.

BOXING will always be #1 for me! MMA - I Respect and occasionally enjoy but as a sport boxing IMO is far superior! Too many MMA fights are long periods of grappleing and little action - and i do realise these guys are excerting alot of skill and technique and appreciate that but i'll be honest it Bores me!

Because as far as any history I know..MMA is new .. boxing as we know it is just a little over 100 years old.. In fact most organised sports were invented in the last 200 years..
SO what history are you basing this on? surely not EARTHS...

I jumped on the MMA bandwagon thanks to the main stream media but it is played out now at least for me. I do think that PRIDE is better than the UFC. Boxing is making a come back and I think they will be doing a Contender season 3 on HBO with heavy weights. They are also showing fights on ABC. Tarver is going to be on the card. I see boxing making some big changes in the near future. They are already using instant replay in Jersey. Everyone is against the open card scoring and I think this will die. I hate that one.

MMA is just a fad and it will die out. MMA aint taking nothing over.

MMA is going to die when the fighter realize how much money the Exec are making and that they are making nothing.

Never has an MMA fighter made over a million bucks for a fight, yet the CEO's of these companys are bringing in the cash hand over fist.

When the backlash from this begins to happen you will see a lot of infighting among the top names in the sport and the level of fights will die off.

But you gotta consider the corruption in boxing that at this point is absent in MMA. How many boxers, who were champion level even, been broke before they even retired? And these guys made plenty of money. Tyson is the best example, he made over $100 million and was broke before he hit 40. But generally high level boxers have managers, trainers, and promoters all taking chunks of the purse. MMA guys often have it better, many manage themselves and run the gym they train at so they don't need to pay someone to do it. Also they don't pay a promoter because if they fight for the UFC, the matches are made by Dana White and Zuffa promotes them and does not take a % of the fighter's purse. Also a higher percentage of MMA stars have endorsement deals than boxers.

I don't think MMA will kill boxing just through the fans. Many boxing fans are not into MMA. The thing that could really hurt boxing, in my opinion, is if the better athletes choose MMA over boxing due to what I wrote above. Look at Don King for example; he is rich beyond belief. Name 5 boxers he promoted who kept enough of their money from boxing to just retire comfortably.....
