    was listons power overrated?.

i think it was . his knockout percetage isnt that impressive and the guys he knocked out were small with weak chins like patterson and foley.

True, but i don't think his power is rated Top3 of all time by most, it should probably be in the top 10, but i don't think his power is rated higher than it should be.

The guy could REALLY ****! Id rather take 1 on the chin from him rather than Tyson tho so yes he is overrated but damn the guy could ****! Ali said harder than Foreman i beleive? But Ali was young and skinny back then, as he matured and filled out he took a far better shot!

The idea that Liston's power was overrated is ****ing absurd. This dude tore people apart. He knocked people's teeth out with jabs. His left hook was a monster, even if he depended more on the right. Liston's body assault was sick, the heavyweight version of Micky Ward. To think this guy isn't a monstrous puncher is ridiculous.

He was a typical heavy hitter with power in both hands, not the speed powerpuncher with pop. He didn't have all the pop in his punches, his jab was bananas though.
I've seen more than a few of his fights, and he didn't always knock his opponents out easily when he could have. like chasing a 190lb guy around the ring for many rounds after having him hurt.

Well, let's look at my list.

                1. Joe Louis
                2. Rocky Marciano
                3. Earnie Shavers
                4. Sonny Liston
                5. George Foreman

That looks to be fair to me.

ali never said that liston hit harder than foreman . in every interview that ali has given whenever he was asked who was the hardest puncher he faced . 2 names only ever come up foreman and shavers.
