This has been discussed before (see link), and i cant be arsed going over the same **** again.
But Lewis against McCall, was on his feet protesting the stoppage whilst his legs were ****ing giving way because he could hardly stand.
That was not a premature stoppage. Not one of his cornermen protested.

I think most people think it was a good stoppage, most refs would have stopped it IMO.
But there have been many other fighters that have been allowed to continue and survived in that state.

Lenox had a good chin but he didnt take too many punches in his career, even though that vid tries to make out he did. Lennox was a good boxer so it was hard to land the kind of punches you would have liked to have detonated on his beard on him with any kind of regularity.

He was tall and could box. But he did get taken out twice so his beard was as vulnerable as mine, but he protected himself better than most.

Good vid. I always thought Lennox received unwarranted criticism for his chin. The punch he took from Rahman would have knocked out anybody. And the shot from McCall albeit not devastating, was still a well thrown punch from a guy with KO power. Lennox took lots of hard shots right on the chin and didn't get phased as is evident by this vid.

Criticism will be recieved if you are knocked out twice... It was a great shot by Rahman, but Lewis more than equalled that shot in the rematch. The problem with Lewis was that he got lazy against McCall, and he got lazy, and completely underestimated Rahman. Lewis showed in both rematches (although more so in the Rahman rematch) that he is a class above both fighters when properly prepared.
People point to the fact that Lewis struggled to get up from both his career knock downs, and great fighters get up etc etc etc. But i think Lewis's 'chin' is underestimated due to these two losses..

lewis had a good chin but i don’t think it was iron. the mccall shot he walked into, i think it was a good stoppage he may have been able to continue but i think mccall would have finished him anyway, but the rahman punch was a clear 1 punch ko. Saying that lewis settled things with mccall is overstating it a bit though.

your proberly right, just saying that mccall didnt give him the chance to prove it, although mccall was doing well in the fight till he broke down in tears.

McCall was hauled out of rehab to for the rematch with Lewis. And he took some helacious shots from Lewis without going down. If McCall was in the right state of mind, perhaps he still would have lost by UD....but you can't discount the fact that Oliver COULD POSSIBLY have KO'd Lewis also.
