this is all about hbo. manfredo somehow has a following of casual boxing fans.
this is good exposure for calzaghe.who wants to go out with some good pay days . as little pain for as much $gain. manfredo somehow fits the bill now.
hope a kessler/calzaghe comes to be.

The fact that this fight is taking place is a travesty.

Be real proud of yourself Calzaghe....

Yeah, it's a tough fight for fans because Manfredo isn't exactly a world beater, but think about the reason for this fight first: to get Calzaghe more well-known in America.

The Lacy fight was big for that, and remember how he was going to fight Glen Johnson next before that fell apart, which would have been a better move to get more U.S. respect. That would have led into a megafight with Hopkins, Taylor or Winky. But it didn't and he had to fight Bika, which did nothing but hurt his U.S. reputation (he didn't destroy Bika anything like Lacy obviously).

Now he is fighting Manfredo, and it's kind of a make-up fight, to try to regain that momentum. If he demolishes Manfredo (and I hope he does for the sake of a big fight, not because I necessarily want him to), it sets up a Hopkins, Winky or Taylor fight very nicely. If he struggles, he may never make it to the U.S. after all. If he LOSES, yikes, that means Manfredo gets a big HBO PPV! Imagine that. MANFREDO VS TAYLOR, LIVE ON HBO PPV! That scares me, geniunely.

So I say give him a mulligan. I understand he's had ALOT of those over the years, but people accused him of running from Lacy forever and then we saw what happened. So let's give him this fight, hope he's impressive, and hope he finally comes over here and gets a megafight.

Yeah that mega fight in the states is what we all want, and if Manfredo is going to help get it then thats fine by me. Joe's got to improve on the bika fight but its worth remembering bika was a horrible boxer to look good against and Manfredo should give joe the chance to show off his skills...hopefully.

Yup, cos Joe was the one pushing for Manfredo. Its not that he wanted Hopkins or Wright or Taylor. He was just calling them out for a laugh, we all know that secretly he wanted Manfredo. It was just a lucky coincidence that none of the other three were prepared to make the fight with Calzaghe.

He better struggle a bit if he wants to fight in America. Let's be honest, Taylor's team are not going to put JT in front of Joe if he looks to good.
