I heard this was not long after he got started, but not sure.

    He was 13 there.

Folks, let me just say something. Doing intense cardio = loss of muscle. And what is boxing training? Right, intense cardio. So adding 10-20 pounds of lean, solid muscle while partaking in serious boxing training is extremely difficult if not impossible. Maintaining muscle with intense cardio can be less difficult to accomplish but adding muscle while doing so is just an unreasonable goal. Go 3 weeks in the boxing gym without lifting weights and you'll quickly drop pounds and lose muscle. Believe that.

If a heavyweight wants to get in great shape but the last thing he wants to do is lose strength and muscle, how the hell can he do that? Yea, you guessed it.

Yes, this is true, however, it depends on their genes and what is their "boxing weight" vs. their "walk around weight":

It's guys that are increasing weight through training, and (especially) when they lose that weight when they are not training, that is "suspect"

We also have to wonder how much running they are doing. Many boxers today also don't like to run, WTF is up with that?
More time in the weight room, less time on the road.

I was surprised to even hear Evander didn't like to run. I read an interview with Emanuel saying how when he trained Evander, Evander didn't want to run. He talked with George Benton about it, and Benton said the same, Evander didn't like to run.

You also have to think about nutrition: people know to eat more, and know what to eat.

But I agree, To many people are putting on to much quality muscle in a short time, after achieving what seems to be their peak weight for their frame, all while going through boxing training, that is "suspect"

I would take almost everything that Kellerman says with a grain of salt. Does anyone remember his weekly show on Manhattan public-access cable TV before he became semi-famous? He use to get an ****** everytime he talked about Zab Judah. Kellerman must have cried when Judah got knocked out by Kostya Tszyu.

          or how about when he said Roy Jones Jr. would beat Joe Frazier {in a fantasy matchup}

I am not sure Max ever owned a jock-strap, let alone muscles.

I first saw his cable access show around 1991 or so. He has been at it for awhile.

Well he is on HBO now, and is right next to Lennox Lewis, a "modern" heavyweight.

I want to see Max discuss this when he is on the air next time around Lewis.

I want to hear what Lewis says, then see Max get on his knees and beg forgiveness.

I guess everybody is "suspect" in today's world, but it has to piss someone off that has great genes, and just works hard as a motha ****a for what they achieved, only to be accused with the rest of the cheaters.

If you think about it, Heavyweights today suck, so if they are on steroids, I don't want them.
This would go along with the research article I read about how "average" or "below average" are more likely to take them then anybody else.

It's kind of like this, ex: If a girl has size "D" breasts, she is not likely to get implants. However, a girl with size "A" or "B", is more than likely.

Man what does race have to do with not likeing Kellerman. All I'm doing is trying to defend the sport and I can't believe how many of you are taking his side. He is hurting the sport with comments like that and he is supposed to be an ambassador for it. The sport is in enough trouble. If he would have said 7 out of 10 are taking some kind of supplement or performance enhancers then I would have to agree. I would then say 9 out of 10 are. But he was insinuating 7 of 10 are taking STEROIDS! That is BS until proven otherwise.

If Tyson did roids, I'm thinking more 1997 and on, well after Cus passed away. I'm talking a 90's and contemporary Tyson, not the manchild who was benching 200+ lbs at 13 years old.

Also keep in mind Jim Jeffries' physique, and he did more cardio than almost any other heavyweight champion...10-15 miles was nothing unusual for him. Guy had a physique like a marble statue and ate very little. Didn't even believe in eating a lot of protein, let alone doing steroids.

Some people are just so gifted genetically that they can put their bodies through hell and still look like gods.

Actually, I do. He wore a leather jacket and talked and looked like Huntz Hall of the Dead End Kids. He would pull a full woody when talking about Pernell as well. I liked him back then. But now, my jury is out.

Well we do know that Tyson and Mary-Jane hooked up more than a hooker with Charlie Sheen.

For Jeffries, yeah, that guy was compact...when men were "MEN"
young James, not the guy who had to lose a vast amount of weight to fight Johnson, coming out of retirement.

Also, he is one of Primo
