i think this is a terrible match up for chico, for many reasons.

clottey has a great body attack and with the height of chico there is a lot of body to hit.

clottey has good stamina, although he's tired in the late rounds of some of his fights, he's always in shape and always makes it to the final bell still swinging.

clottey has a solid left hook, and the left hook is chico's kryptonite, it's like everytime chico has been knocked down it was from a left hook.

clottey is a good inside fighter and will give chico all he can handle in there.

chico is moving up in weight and although he might feel comforable at that weight he still needs to get used to it and adjust, trying to adjust while being in against a top contender like clottey is dangerous and not the best idea.

clottey is a bad style match up for chico.

i'm rooting for chico til he retires he's one of my favorite fighters all time, but this fight isnt a good match up for him and i hope that he can pull out a W.

      Corrales to face Clottey

Former world champion Diego Corrales will make his welterweight debut against Joshua Clottey on April 7. Corrales, a former 130- and 135-pound champion, will bypass the 140-pound division, moving directly to the 147-pound ranks. Clottey is coming off of a hard fought loss in a WBO welterweight title challenge against Antonio Margarito. No venue has been named. The bout will be nationally televised

Why Clottey? Why not? Are we that conditioned to expect the top fighters to duck tough contenders like this? I applaud Chico for his audacity in taking on a fighter of Clottey's merit at this stage of his career. If he loses, then he lost to a good, young fighter. If he wins, all the more respect to him for having the balls to face a guy that frankly, there isn't a line around the block awaiting.

Asian's 100% on the money! WTF! how many threads are started about this guy duckin that guy, this guy fightin tomato can X, you can't have it both ways and give Corrales some props for havin some giant size Balls! besides Clottey was mainly effective against a very rusty and slow Margarito who allowed him to stay in the pocket and beat him till the candy was fallin out. If anything, Corrales has way faster hands than Marg, he might just hit as hard or harder than him at 147 and he will probably feel better in the ring than ever before. So let's just wait and see what he's got left in the tank come fight night.

I'm very much interested to see how Chico would perform at this weight class. He's not gonna be drained anymore but I bet he's gonna be slower.

I dunno but Clottey might be too much for him. I'll still root for Chico.

Clottey aint KO nobody with that messed up hand he got from his last fight

the way he was whinning in the corner. I know that hand wont be 100% come time to fight in april, and even if it is 100% the first power punch he lands with that hand, will have some kinda effect

by the later rds of the fight he'll be in the corner complaining again

                    lol
