one of my favorite things about johnson was all the trash he talked while he was in the ring. when he'd hit jj jeffries in the body he'd say " how u feelin' mr. jeff?"

listen son, boxing was more "real" in those days. by "real", i mean it was more like an actual fight and less like a sport.

those were likely horse hair filled gloves the people in the video clip were wearing. they weigh half, or less, than what today's gloves weigh. not for sissy's.

you can't compare today's boxing with boxing of the early turn of the twentieth century because it was a different game. actually, less of a game, more like a war.

on one side of my family, my great grandfather was a golden gloves champion. if he were alive today, he would not be as kind as i'm being when you diss old school boxing.
