REASON. why I said they just talk about 96' and on tyson. which including the heartless earbiting. he was in the game before 96' ya know.with plenty of heart.Comment

he didnt win easily with neither ruddock fights. got pounded by douglas and still knocked him down in the 8th round.(thats enough heart there).and then tried to get up.took a pounding from lewis for 8 rounds while still trying to fight. broke his knee vs. williams I think the first round. the only fights he didnt have heart in was with holyfield 2 and mcbride. they were so big cause of his name, thats all ppl remember. It becomes first page of the sports page or paper. Its the bad that he does, that gets recognition cause of the title he has as a bad guy.Comment

Listen Im just stating what I read. Could it be fabricated? Maybe. But I doubt its all made up. And I wasnt talking about his ability to fight. I was talking about his problems leading up to the fight.
When you constantly want to quit in the middle of training, leave camp numurous times, and call up your trainer suicidal in the middle of the night, Id say you have some problems.Comment

theres a difference between mental weakness and heart. how people can assume Tyson had NO heart is beyond me...even in the Lewis fight, late in his career, he was receiving a horrible beatdown, but still kept coming forward...Most people wouldve lost it.
However, he seemed to lose focus like hell if things weren't going the right way. You can tell this a bit in Atlas's recollections, as well if you watch the Tillis fight, among others...when Tillis did not succomb to Tyson early on, he got farily frustrated and starting throwing bombs, instead of focusing on his gameplan.
Thats why if someone challenged his will too much, he would seem to be thrown off a bit...which also could be why he probebly turned into a bit more of a slugger in the 2nd part of his career, after Douglas. Just my idea, though.

Yes, Tyson seem to rely heavily on Rooney. Rooney had the Gameplan and programed Mike. ****, you can hear Rooney yell out numbers/commands during fights. In the Tucker fight, Mike got fustrated and it was Rooney who calmed him down and instructed him what to do. Tyson responded perfectly, like always back then.
Thats the one real knock on Tyson, he didn't seem to be able to do it without someone programing him. Without a program, Tyson went into street mode. However, without Rooney, he did beat Bruno, Ruddock, and Alex Stewart. Ruddock was the best one out of the lot. It's funny, after Rooney left, you can see Tyson in his corner during later fights with an expression that said, "WTF, I am all by myself with dumb ****s in my corner, shut the **** up and hold the spit bucket"
Maybe it is just how they taught Tyson: When you are taught like a Soldier just to take orders, that's all you tend to do. If he would of learned how to question more, learned how to think in there, maybe he would of developed differently. But, maybe that would take to long and just following orders is faster. Or just maybe I am completely off, and need to hear it from Tyson how he trained.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 02-21-2007, 09:13 PM.Comment

well **** he wanted to **** his neice what do you think he is going to love him for that or be buddys?Atlas is a Tyson hater! Mike in his day had heart and plenty of it! The man LOVED to fight! And while im at it his stamina was superb too! Just coz a fighter stops trainning as hard (less stamina!) and somewhere along the way lost his passion and fighting spirit duznt mean it was never there! Ive Got his Pro Career set and sum AM fights too have Watched them All Countless times studying them and trust me when it comes to Mike Tyson I know what im talkin about!Comment

Holyfield droped him in the 6th round and Tyson got up. Tyson took a beating in the 10th and hung in their. He took 11 unanswered punches in the 11th before the ref steped in.
Tyson had a ton of heart in all his fights except Holyfield II and his very last(but he was waaaaaay past his prime).Comment

Tyson had great heart ONCE APON A TIME! In his prime when he still luved the sport, he'd fight anyone and never backed away from a fight! For instance Bruno 1, Bruno, a HUGE puncher lands flush and Mike's hurt! Mike duz what? Immediatley WHALES back at big Frank! 4 rounds later its over! Another example would be against Smith anther huge puncher, did Tyson care if Bone Crusher was gonna freeze or come out swining? No he just went out to Fight as always! He gets buzzed by a good shot in the 12th after dominating and wants payback, not to just survive and keep his points lead! Even in the worst night of his pro career against Douglas Mike taking a spanking keeps pressing and Even scored a KD! Hell he even made it to his feet before 10 at the KO, (Tho clearly in no position to continue!) Against Razor Ruddock he clearly showed heart both times out! Most of thge guys he fought were alot bigger than Mike to remember. The guy had heart, at least credit him that. AND STAMINA! He fought a very tireing style at a fast past for as long as a fight lasted, if it went 12 Mike would be there still trying to end it by KO in the last! He never let up! I can remember commentaters saying how Tyson was So well conditioned and that he was probably 1 of the only fighters around at the time who would have prefered a 15round limit!Comment
. Please, Emanuel (plus Moorer himself, lets not forget that), made him who he was.
