not every pro is a boxing historian, in fact, very few are.
If you've never fought pro, your opinion means nothing.

You're right, most of them are busy being about it, instead of talking about it. The posters on this board are all boxing historians? I don't think so.
Again, if I'm going into a fight, I'll take Scully's or Rockin's or any other guy with real experience's advice over anybody else in here.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "boxing knowledge." There are those who memorize Rocky Marciano's record, complete with dates etc., or knows what color and brand of gloves PBF used for which fight. Great. Whoopee. What value does that "knowledge" have? What can it be applied to?
And then there are those who have what I call boxing knowledge, who can take that knowledge and win a fight, either for themselves or for a fighter they're training. That's real knowledge to me.Comment

I'm a pro with a 0-10 record so ride on to my wisdom...If you haven't had at least one pro fight, your opinion means nothing to me. I don't care if you'd studied boxing history, you've been around the sport all your life, and know all the fighters personally and have access to inside information; your opinion means less than a pro with a 0-1 record if you've never laced 'em up. I can't wait for HBO to fire Lampley and Merchant and add Bert Cooper and Leon Spinks to the payroll so we can finally get some insightul commentating for once.
Oh, and amateur doesn't count. A 300-0 record with 300 knockouts and an olympic gold medal in the amateurs is less impressive than 0-1 in the pros. So please don't start with the "oh I won the golden gloves, look at the vids of my fights, I know what I'm talking about". Nope sorry, not interested, unless we're talking PRO here.
Hey BPP can we ban everyone who hasn't fought pro? I believe you should have to fax in a copy of your pro license to make an account on this forum, or any forum on the internet for that matter. I'm getting sick of all these civilians trying to make their points here while lacking the proper credentials.
I mean, okay, you might have what you consider an "opinion" to make but without a pro license that's exactly like a schizophrenic vagrant on the street trying to operate on my brain. Answer me, would you want a dirty, boozed up, mentally ill homeless man performing brain surgery on you, even if he's wearing scrubs? No, that's why we require medical licenses. Now, keeping that in mind, do you want some Joe "Unlicensed, Never Fought Pro" Nobody talking to be you boxing? No, of course not, that's just as bad, and that's why we should require pro boxing licenses to participate in the forum.

I must admit I missed the sarcasm. I had an inkling but it's hard to pick up on the internets sometimes.Comment
