CAN SOMEBODY please tell me why COTTO deserves all this credit????

I mean, everyone is saying he would kill guys like hatton, mayweather, Judah, Corrales... and even carlos Baldomir?

If i had to pick a winner for COTTO-BALDOMIR, i would pick BALDY in a great fight.

people say Cotto would outbox Baldy. What good fighter has he outboxed? none. Not one good opponent.

Baldy beat JUDAH, and dominated Gatti, and stood 12 hard rounds with Mayweather.

Cotto beat paul malinaggi, who is a good boxer, but he never proved himself against anyone.

Cotto stopped Corley, which may be his best win.

    Or maybe Carlos maussa.

I mean these are good fighters, but to say he can knock Mayweather out, or outbox Baldomir, or take a decision over mosley, is a bit rediculous at this point.

    At least to me.

Cotto is a great fighter, but whoever he fights in JUNE will be his best opponent to date. If he stuggles against Margarito if they fight, or williams, or mosley, i see no reason why this guy is getting so much credit.

People are hating on guys like Hatton for hand picking there opponents... but cotto hasnt fought the opposition hatton has?

Cotto is a very exciting, very talented fighter, but he hasnt fought a name fighter since Maussa... and he is hardly a name... or corley if he counts.

No he's not. Great is an over-used word in Boxing.

Everyone's on his nuts because of the Quintana fight, and for beating Paulie.

I don't see Cotto beating Mayweather or Mosley. I think he would beat Hatton at 147.

Judah I'm not sure. If I had to bet I'd pick Cotto, but maybe a good Judah could turn up.

Yeah Judah always seems to fade in big-fights.

          Cotto's bodywork + Judah's Stamina/Chin/Confidence = Not a good situation for Zab.

Tell me a poster who has good rep around here that said any of that nonsense. He deserves credit for being undefeated and fighting solid competition. I wouldnt jump to say he would destroy anyone though.

I wouldnt say him outboxing Baldomir is rediculous either. Baldomir took advantage of a mentally weak Judah, and a hugely overrated Gatti. Good wins yeah, but he never really impressed me. I said from the get go that Mayweather would turn him into a pinata.

I've only seen him fade once in a big fight...against Mayweather.

He lost to Tszyu in round 2. I wouldn't call that "fading", it was Tszyu making adjustments and catching Zab. Zab finished stronger than Stinks in both fights. And against Baldomir, was it considered a big fight going in?

I like Miguel Cotto's style, but I agree that the hype for him is a bit unwarranted. He's a good fighter, he's not great, not yet anyways. He has the potential for greatness but many fighters have had that in the past and it ended up not being realized.

The fact is that any young, undefeated knockout artist with a decent punch will always be overhyped to some extent. Plus he's Puerto Rican and that's a really wide fan base.

No but I mean like Judah always seems to screw-up in a high-pressure situation. Against Floyd with the 2-cheap shot combo, and when he got staggered by Baldy he just gave up the fight.
