I have a big problem with some of the opinions on this board. Alot of you claim that its near impossible for Oscar to hit and even outbox Floyd. Has everyone forgotten what Oscar has really accomplished? He hit Whitaker a fair bit (Who by the way is ten times trickier then Floyd could ever be, and faster too boot.), He hit Quartey a helluva lot who had a great jab and handspeed in his prime, etc. People are acting like Oscar is some chump who has no boxing skills and certainly no handspeed.

Maybe everyone should pop in a tape of what Whitaker did at 154 (Mayweather is a poor man's Whitaker, btw) and realize that it takes the right opponent, at the right time to make Mayweather look good, especially at 154. Floyd should of chosen his 154 opponents wisely - because he sure as hell aint choosing DLH very well.

What I was saying partway into this thread; was that it seemed almost unanimous once we broke down the actual tangibles that Oscar has a good chance.

Natural Floyd hating makes it confusing to see it clearly, though.

The boxing media i.e. the "pro's" are leaning towards Floyd. Mostly.

      I trust them and agree.

But I can still see Floyd getting KO'ed EARLY, and Mayweather Sr. coming into the ring and holding his sons lifeless body.

Oscar can be a killer. He REFUSES to look like a punk.

He's LA. People forget that. Oscar is from East LA. For real, nobody on this forum wants to walk down the street in East Los.. ANYTIME of the day.

And that's all Floyd does. Floyd tries to make people look ******.

That will be the X Factor. Something will happen because of that.

Strange things will happen in the future.

        This is True.

And I remember the Job DLH did on Gatti, much closer to murder than Floyds fight.

            No Floyd can't hurt Oscar.

I don't know if Oscar will ever hit Floyd cleanly enough with the left to get the KO.

The Corley fight was at 140 pounds not 154
Floyd was trading with Corley, he won't trade with DLH
Floyd wasn't hanging on for dear life he was on the ropes
Floyd was hurt at one point and dominated almost the whole fight

But yes, Oscar can hurt Floyd, if Floyd gives him the chance to. Oscar will have to catch him with something.

Sorry, but I lost you early in the thread. I do agree with you that DLH refuses to look like a punk, but Floyd does his best when his back is against the wall and no one expects him to win. Everyone said that about him vs. Corrales that he was 'too soft' and Corrales was too 'big and strong'. Look how that worked out for Diego when Floyd was in the underdog role. Wow.

I appreciate what you've said - but De La Hoya is the underdog.

                  That's how it's been handicapped.

I really dont see how DLH should be the underdog. It looks to me like it's a 50/50 fight. Mayweather has not looked very good since he has moved up from 140 (minus baldomir fighting naturally smaller fighters) and 154 may be too big for him. Whitaker is a much better fighter then Floyd and even he had to really choose his opponents wisely. I think DLH may be the wrong opponent for Floyd given the huge size advantange.

Can we at least agree on one thing, however? Floyd is not going to win this fight in convincing and dominating fashion. If he wins it will be similiar to Baldomir - DLH. It will for sure not be the 'in-pocket' Floyd (I cringe when people say that because we have only seen that side of Floyd when his opponent has been hopelessly overmatched), either.

This is very true. We'll have to wait and see what DLH has left.
