He dominated a division and repeatedly defended his title. He just hasn't been given any chances to fight a top 10 heavyweight, although Sinan Samil Sam was rated quite highly when Gomez beat him.

He'd spin Valuev and Peter on their heads.

How can you DOMINATE a divison without fighting the top competition?

He was avoided like the plaque. He beat everyone in front of him. Anyone with sense knows he was the best in the division at that time.

          This is pointless.

I would agree with you on this

BTW, just because a fighter is avoided, does not mean that he rules the division.

Everyone has a punchers chance and a lot more people would rather fight Byrd than Peter.

Peter was and is the most avoided fighter today... does it mean that he is the best out there?

The man hasn't fought in over two years, is in his mid 30s, and postponed/cancelled the Rahman fight four times due to some serious injuries.

It's still a question mark whether or not he can even make it to the fight healthy, let alone compete at a high level.

That's why most are so interested in seeing him fight again; to see if he's still the same dominant force that he was two years ago.
