    sweet pea pernell whitaker

where does he rank among the lightweights. Lets look at his resume at lightweight.

    roger mayweather
    greg haugen
    louie lomelli
    jose luis ramirez
    freddie pendleton
    azumah nelson
    juan nazario
    anthony jones
    policarpo diaz
    jorge paez
    harold barzier
    rafael pineda

On top of that, this is his resume during his 4 year reign as the welterwight king.

    buddy mcgirt x2
    julio cesar chavez
    santos cordona
    julio cesar vasquez
    gary jacobs
    jake rodriguez
    wilfredo rivera x2
    disoblay hurtado

Now i can see why Ring Magazine ranks him as the 10th best fighter to ever live. On top of that he was robbed against ramirez the first time and arguably beat a prime oscar de la hoya. His only real losses were his last two fights.

He lost to oscar no questions about that. The reason that fight is contraversial is because oscar won by so much.

Sweet pea is with out a doubt top 10 all time fighters not just in his division. Lot of people don't rate him higher because he was a little guy, but in skill he beats so many people who are in most top p4p altime list

Ring magazine considers his fight with chavez as a win for him anyways. So his top wins are chavez and nelson, damn he's good.

Personally, i think he's better than ike williams, barney ross and joe gans. The question is, is he better than duran and benny leonard.

Speaking of robberies, he got a gift against Wilfredo Rivera on their first fight, the second one was a very close one, could've gone either way.

even if he lost the first fight to rivera, he got robbed twice in his career against chavez and ramirez. Pernell clearly showed his superiority over chavez, at the alamodome pernell proved he was the better fighter. Cong**** on being in the hall of fame sweet pea.

Damn I forgot all about the Chavez fight, he did school Chavez. And he didn't run neither, moved side to side and schooled him for 12. I remember everyone was picking Chavez by KO on that fight.

I can understand if duran gets ranked higher than pernell. However, i want to hear an arguement as to why benny leonard is better. He cant possess more skills than pea.
