I was very amused by that too. Ali was the big personality in boxing back then, not King. Ali's example should have served him well, but it didnt.

King has a very shady history.

here's the deal on don king:

      he is a bastard.

details: the question doesn't necessarily need to be who's career has he ****ed up, but how many people's career who weren't under his control did he **** with? many. actually, if there is a decent fighter not in don's stable of hoes, they have an uphill battle. that is the sole reason why many fighters have signed with him. it's just easier to go with him than battle against him. it's also another reason why i am a big klitschko supporter. the bros are two guys who said "no" from the beginning and continue to battle his bastardly ways.

      don king is a bastard.

don king alone has been the reason why many, not all, but many unifications have not been made recently. politics and money - one in the same.

      don king is a bastard.

many people will forget, if they even knew about it, that don king had set up a light heavyweight (i think) tournament and rigged every single fight.

yeah, i wrote that right. he rigged every single fight in a supposed tournament. yet, it goes without mention these days. hell, i can't really find a damn thing on it on the internet. somehow, it made its way into some documentary short about him.

      ****in' bastard.

Don King still holds the HW division which is consider to be the most money in it.

but he did some great fight long time ago like in the 60s 70s and 80s and evne the 90s.

actually only Don King is the most famous promoter even more famous than DHL

that is true but also if you hold the HW division you control who fights who and where you fight and how but the problem is thr the brother Klit is controling part of the division and Oleg is seperated with them.

but there are some good HW that are not under Don King.

but i dont think that Don King is only into boxing i heard that he owns 30% shares or the MGM hotels and that could tell you something.

he may look like a scourge bum but they guy is really powerful.

ANYWAYS, I said "Don King is awesome" or something to that effect. Of course, her sister's know-it-all boyfriend pipes in with "No, he's really not, he's ruined so many boxer's careers" but was unable to give me any names.

I don't really know too much about Don King, other than the basic stuff. So tell me, did he ruin any fighter's careers? Did he come anywhere close to ruining any careers? Or was this guy just talking out of his ass like he seems to do most of the time?

Edit-Ehhh ****ed up the title. Oh well.
Don King has taken, and still takes, advantage of fighters. Whether or not you can associate that with him ruining the careers of fighters i don't know, but surely fighters have to shoulder some of the blame. Don King is a very intimidating, and persuasive man, but fighters are well within their rights if they don't want to work with him, and there is no written rule that says fighters have to work with Don King, but at one time he was the best Promoter in the world (and he would claim to still being the best) and fighters wanted to work with him because they wanted more money, but the bottom line is that the only important person to Don King is Don King.

Tim Witherspoon was supposed to get a million for his fight with Bruno (?) or Smith (?).

                  He got $90k.

don surrounded mike with yes men and gave him £5 million when he was 20.
any 20 year old would go on a massive bender with that much money.

no one was telling him to stop. at the top of the pile was don, counting his pennies.

now when people call frank warren a wanker just remember how bad it is over the other side...

                    only in america! haha!

                      Tyson

he did nto ruin his career, but he did ruin his health:
