I was at the fight live and many people had Gatti winning or the fight even going into the 9th round. Even Buddy McGirt was telling Arturo to go to the jab and out maneuver Baldomir, but everytime the damn crowd starts chanting Arturo gets ****** into brawling. The fact was Baldomir was just too big for Arturo and his punches didn't hurt him very much. Arturo is a fringe welterweight, and only has a chance against naturally lighter opponents. People who are like 180lbs walking like Baldomir are just too much to trade blows with. He could go toe to toe with Salita in my opinion.
For Christ's Sakes, Gatti was not winning or fighting even with Baldomir. Those who actually thought Gatti was ahead must've been scoring with their hearts and not their heads. Baldomir was able to cut off the ring on Gatti and force him to trade, as Gatti's boxing was not working. Baldomir was repeatedly cutting off the ring and catching Gatti with straighter, shorter shots.

Baldomir is not that much larger than Gatti. You wouldn't know it if you (not saying you particularly) listened to the verbal manure from the mouth of Jim Lampley, but Gatti was always huge at the lower weight classes, even 140 lbs. The guy weighed in unofficially at 160 freakin pounds on fight night for a fight in which he "weighed in" at 141 lbs. Baldomir is just extremely strong and tough as nails.

Gatti always shows expressions in his body and face like he's extremely hurt, but has time and time again kept fighting and even won. Against Baldomir it didn't matter, because Baldomir was better.

I knew this was coming cause of his HBO contract had 1 more fight left on it.

I hope he goes out with a big win.
