Im not saying Training for MMA might be harder, But also thats hard to believe when you watch some of the MMA figihters tire after 2 rounds in the Cage. They are two different sports, some people like to see decathalons, others like to see sprint runners. Boxing is has alot more competition so to be a champion boxer is alot harder then to be a champion MMA fighter. Thats Just the facts, MMA dosent have an international amature program like boxing. Boxers ussually have a pretty extensive amature career before turning pro. MMA is a good sport but its a new sport, Boxing has the better athletes.

Boxing - you give and receive punches, ya move your legs, ya move your hands, it also depends on the individual, but some hardly move their upper body at all so it's mainly the arms doing the work.

MMA - You punch, you kick, you wrestle

Sure, MMA fighters in general are nowhere near to having great boxing skills or even great kicking skills(they're mostly fighters who have extensive wrestling backgrounds). hell forget great, most of them are not even that good at kicking or punching, but their sport allows it so they have to work on it .

A boxer's main focus is punching!

There's no argument folks. MMA tops boxing!
my friend who trains in Muay Thai and MMA said that Boxing is more of a tiring sport because of the lack of "breaks" during fighting. He said that the majority of MMA fights go to the ground and that when ON the ground, alot of time is set on securing your position so you actually stay still catching your breath. when you're actually doing stand up striking, its not constant such as in boxing with a kick and a punch thrown every 2-3 seconds where as in boxing, more combinations are thrown at a higher percentage. after being an MMA fan for about 2 years now, i would have to agree. due to the fact of less activity in an MMA fight, it would be less taxing physically than a Boxing fight.

Dont forget less rounds, When was the last time a Kickboxing match was 12 rounds? Most the K1 fights are 3 rounds or 5 rounds for the Championship fights.

Lets not forget in MMA only the Championship fights are 5 rounds = 25 minutes, all the other fights are 3 rounds = 15 minutes. That means that when two top contenders fight in MMA, They only fight for 15 minutes. Where as in boxing, Contenders can fight for a minor title in a 12 round fight.

              Dont believe the hype.

but K-1 has 3 rounds but fight 4 fight I think.

                So different game rules.

As for MMA longer round also.

depends on the type of training but each on has a different way of training and fighting

The 4 fights in one night is only the Tournaments, Which are once or twice a year. Yes longer rounds, but that has nothing to do with it. Pride had a 10 minute first round, does that mean Pride fighters were better athletes? Boxing used to have 100 round fights, does that mean the atheltes in the 1800's were better conditioned then athletes today?

I stick to my facts that boxing has more fighters so more competition makes it harder to reach the top. I love watching great all around MMA fighters, but those are very few fighters. If im going to pay to get my car fixed, I prefer a Master Mechanic, Then a guy who is ok at fixing cars, but can also can paint my house and build me a fence. Jack of all traits Master of none.

in UFC you get the chance to take breathers, when they are mat groping each other, boxing far harder than ufc.
