Most of Mayweather's defense comes from his natural athletic ability, evading, etc.. while Wright has the genuine defense that is successful in blocking and protecting while still being able to attack effectively as well... no question, Winky Wright.

Its easy to stay in mid range when the guy in front of you is not keeping you at bay with anything, especially those long left hands and right hooks. Those combinations had PBF in defensive mode through the first four, he got dropped and got tagged with a lot of shots from Judah. Then Judah stopped throwing and Mayweather started landing his right hand. That's the way I saw it.

        again,

If Judah just stopped throwing why didnt mayweather just throw all sorts of punches?

wouldnt you/me/anyone throw a barrage of punches on a fighter who is not throwing back?

He was clearly very cautious in the choice of punches and their timing, more cautious than against anyone with the possible exception of his second fight with castillo.

You're asking a question only PBF can answer to you. Why did he chose that range/combinations? My guess is that's what they worked at in training camp. Mayweather has always been a careful fighter, he throws barrage of punches when he has a guy out on his feet, I guess he knew Judah's a dangerous fighter even when tired so he played it safe, he was also very cautious against Baldomir who had nothing and just ate leather all night.

ok we'll just have to disagree on that. by the way I DO think Judah started gassing out, but not after 4 rounds

as for the baldomir fight, mayweather actually threw a lot more when baldomir was throwing more. then midway through the fight he stopped throwing the right hand. Mayweater should fight with a king size pillow on his right hand.

another thing if you seen Taylor fight some of the punchs really hurt Winky so if Winky fought with much stronger punchers let say Miranda if Miranda will hurt Winky in the later rounds because he would puncher on his arm and body and he would lower his gaurd and that is the chance you could his winky.

but once someone moves around and hit his opponet back with couter is usually better because you cant hit somone you cant catch
Winky was not hurt in that fight at all. He just took a few tough shots. Most of the time he blocked Taylor's punches. That's what pissed me off Lampley was completely off with that fight making it seem as though Taylor dominated which was not the case. With Winks D he breaks the full impact of the punch with his arms. So instead of a straight punch coming through his guard it kind of slides in. Now I'm not saying Taylor didn't land and I am not a Taylor hater. And Miranda would eat a jab all night I don't think Winky would fight more open with a more powerful fighter.

I'd have to disagree, Mayweather has a very effective defense that involves rolling & dodging punches , RJJ had the natural athletic ability & agility to jump inside, hit you, & be gone before you even noticed. Personally I think it takes more skill to do what Mayweather, Toney, ect. do, I'm not taking away anything from Wright, he one of my favorite fighters, but he does get hit, more now then ever. Besides blows the hit your gloves & elbows still have some effect, while guy like Mayweather get the **** out the way, regardless they both have 2 of the best defense in the sport today.

floyd mayweather adjusted to juda's style (at least thats what i saw) ... he started staying in just enough range where he could blunt juda's punches ...and he could counter him with everything ... after that... juda was scared to throw because eveyrthing he threw he got coutered... EVERYTHING ... lol make it so bad it look like mayweather wasnt even hittin him hard but he was just consistent with punches...

I go with PBF's style, because he leans back and rolls to the right while keeping his right ready to make you pay. He shortens his punches for shots to the body or to the head. Winky blocks a lot, but is not as ready to counter as Floyd IMO.

i guess most of us can agree that PBF's defense is mostly admired...

but u can't knock B-Hop's defense either....from what I see, he uses his opponent's offense as his defense, he likes to look at how a fighter sets his feet n legs then throws them off with movement n feints....which I can imagine be aggravating...AND he can block, slip n dodge punches...

kinda impressive to the naked eye...
