I understand where are u coming from, but for them its much harder then that. ITs not just that people dont believe in them, that can be overcame, they dont have any positive roll models either, thus they dont know where to go, and no one is giving them a chance in a first place.

I also live in a very different place. There is more races in Toronto then any other place in the world. And I can tell you for certain. Your "colour" here means **** all They discrimate against anyone who is not "Canadian" meaning born and raised here.

If your an immigrant, it dont mater if your Ricky Hatton or Samuel Peter, it will be harder to get a decent job.

But I guess Canada is A LOT more tolerant then the States.

it is about discrimination too -- in today's world blacks are systematically discriminated for a variety of reasons -- they do not go to good schools, they do not get good education, they earn lower salaries even conditional on the same level of education and the same level of innate ability, they get stopped and arrested more by police... each second black man get jailed at least once... etc.
That alone is reason enough to be sensitive and more critical about whatever is said. Based on my experience being a Filipino here in the United States, we have had a history of always being looked down on. At one point the Oxford dictionary defined the word "Filipino" as domestic helper due to the fact that many Filipinas and Filipinos are spread throughout Asia and the rest of the world working as Nannys or house maids, or house boys. The definition has been changed due to protest. Even other asians do not consider Pinoys asian due to the Spanish influence and look down on Pinoys. It is amazing how opinon and actions based opinions can spread and passed on to the next generation. Many Filipinos working as maids have been killed or ****d, or held hostage by their employers because I guess domestic helpers are less than human in many parts of the world. You guys should be used to the "Pacquiao can beat anybody" threads in here by now. That is just because we are trying to proove the definition in Oxford dictionary wrong. That we are not beneath anybody, that we can't be stepped on or spat at and be expected to lay down and take it. The Chinese, Japanese, etc. are not Pinoys, they are in a position of power. My last three employers in Cali were chinese, the people that look to the Philippines for domestic help are Chinese. If you site the chinese or Japanese as an example they are passive. People talk some racist **** about em all the time but you don't hear a stink from em because their position on this planet are not threatened by anybodys opinions. Mexicans are proud and senstive about who they are and act like they got something to proove just like pinoys, puerto ricans, etc. because they want to show that they are not what the powers that be would have everyone believing whatever stereotype we have right now. A word, an opinion, a beleif is a powerful and dangerous thing in the wrong hands or mouths, whatever. If it got to the Oxford dictionary, it must be. African Americans are right in keeping their guard up. Equality aint a reality yet unless you livin in a white world. The L.A. riots started on cops acting on their opinions and the reaction of the rioters who showed what they thought after the powers that be voiced their opinions on the verdict. Whose opinion had more weight? They let the hood burn down while sending a massive force to protect the white areas. Saying that I would never let a black man beat me sounds like a small thing but you'd be surprised on how many supremasists would find that to be inspiring. I'm hella stoned so if Im just rambling on in here, I'll read what a fool I made of myself later.

By this I mean that since white people know they have always been the powerful race in the Western World, and always will be, they do not make such a fuss about black people saying **** like that because it does not challenge their position of power. It will not to anything to change the status quo, blacks have it harder, whites have it easier, period.

However, if a white person would say something like that it would be deemed rascist due to the history of abuse towards blacks. For over 500 years blacks have been enslaved, lynched, persecuted, denied human rights, and discriminated against in every possible way. Because of this, if a white person said he'd never let a black man beat him, it is taken as an example of whites still thinking they are superior to blacks, and this does not look good or politically correct becuase of what blacks have suffered at the hands of whites. If a black man said he'd never let a white man beat him, it is interpreted as "the oppressed does not want to stoop down to his oppressor anymore."

This is one of the best answers detailing our flaws in society. what an excellent way to put it.

If folks feel there is an unfair bias allowing Blacks to speak freely on race - and dissalowing Whites to have the same freedom; I'm wondering why that is.

We can say "it's unfair" - but why does it happen?

Bob Costas has mentioned this a few times on his show. He told Charles Barkley he could get away with saying things that a White man cannot.

                    What's the particular frustration?

Blacks and other Minority's have been kicked around pretty good for millenia.

                    Does that mean nothing?

Should we just call it even?..
