Hatton could get fights with Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Corrales, et al at a division they say he would be BETTER in and they are choosing not to?

If they said that, they are making no sense.
I think they mean (or they atleast think - I don't) he'd be able to hit even more powerfully as a welterweight upto welterweights (with extra muscle to call on and less dieting down) than as a light-welterweight upto light-welterweights (and he hits very powerfully among light-welters you may of noticed!), but the other factors like agility, reflexes, strength in clinches, pace and stamina etc may suffer? I don't know.

What I do know is, that Ricky Hatton is a light-welterweight and looked hideous (by comparison) at welterweight. So I wouldn't want him to fight at welterweight again, it would be an experiment and he doesn't need experiments at this stage of his long career. But ofcourse, the Mayweather fight is the ultimate dream fight for the guy, once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm sure he'd move upto middleweight if he had to, for that one!

And also, Billy Graham thinks that Mayweather is just a blown-up light-welter and could still make light-welter, he doesn't view Mayweather as a natural welter so I doubt Hatton would need to 'pack on muscle' as much.. and for Collazo remember, they had just seven weeks to pack on muscle because TV forced him to move up at short notice (because Mayweather was up at welter). With a Mayweather fight, they'd have much longer to prepare and get it right.

Hatton openly declared that he is still dreaming of a fight with PBF so that gives us clue that he might still decide to go up in weight.

All this not enough time to prepare is BS. If that was the true reason for Hatton's less than stellar performance then he could've proved it with another fight at 147lbs in which he would've had plenty of time to prepare. For the record I had Hatton winning the fight but that fight proved that Hatton's strenghts are physcial talent and not skill. Hatton's heart, stamina and strenght and work rate is what wins him fights. At 147lbs he was as dominating physically and he didn't have the boxing skills to cope with the bigger fighter.

Case in point is Duran who was able to go up in weight not just because of his physical attributes but because he was a skilled fighter.

Yeah Hatton is all skill and technique - you'll be very impressed with technical skill. He wasn't exactly blessed with great flexibility - he has very squat frame, and apparenly isn't the fastest of runners and can only bench press 160lbs. But as a young kid he studied the greats and spent hours on end working on his technique on the bags and practicising foot positioning over and over. Billy Graham (another student of the game) has just polished him up abit since they got together 10 years back.

Geoff I really think your the only one who see's Hatton as a great boxer who uses a great left jab...etc...etc. Why can't you accept Hatton for what he is and thats a pressure fighter/swarmer and not a boxer.
