    IF Collazo beats Sugar Shane..........

Will we have to reassess Hatton at Welter?
Hatton looked out of sorts against Collazo, not his usual energetic self from the bell of round one yet still sc****d a win. If Collazo looks great against Mosley will it encourage Hatton to have another try at Welter or at least soften the criticism he has received for that matchup?

Will it even mean a rematch down the line after Castillo and PBF?
    If not, why not?

Kerry Kayes had just seven weeks to put 7lbs of muscle onto Ricky's short, stumpy frame, and he weighed 158 on the morning of the fight and entered the ring at 165 (on a 5ft6 frame with arms as short as super-featherweights).

Clearly, the guy (Hatton) could barely move, let alone punch. It wasn't really much to do with Collazo, although he did some good stuff and all power to him.

Ricky has admitted unpublicly that they got the preparation wrong, and "my body was failing me, so I just had to gut it out. But it was a very entertaining fight due to that and that's all that matters."

Ricky and Kerry insist that if Hatton had eight weeks to bulk up first and then eight weeks sharpen up, he'd be an even more explosive fighter as a welterweight than a light-welterweight!

Oh and I think Mosley will wipe the floor with Collazo.

Excellent info, GH. That sums it up for me.

It may do that. I'm curious if anyone has heard whether Hatton is going to stay down at 140 for good, or transition back up? I'm clueless on that.

They were preparing for Juan Lescano(sp?) at light-welterweight, until Lescano pulled out injured with seven weeks to go and Ben Rabah was rejected by HBO. HBO forced him (Hatton) to become a welterweight in seven weeks, during an actual training camp! He could still make 140 easily..

And Billy Graham says he (Hatton) needed to 'pack on muscle' because otherwise he wouldn't of been able to stand up to a natural welterweight's punches.

If this is true, why on earth would they not want to move up then??? They are saying only Mayweather if they ever fight at 147 again...147 is THE division right now.

Hatton could get fights with Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Corrales, et al at a division they say he would be BETTER in and they are choosing not to?

If they said that, they are making no sense.

I am aware of Hatton's problems with the Collazo fight. I just want to know if Collazo distinguishes himself, increases his percieved worth and all against Mosley, why Hatton won't move back up because he'll have proved that even on a severely off-night, he can still take a good welterweight.
Surely IF Collazo wins it will make Hatton look much better for winning despite struggling.

He says the only fight he'd move up for is PBF but who knows he may not always be able to make weight so easily and change his mind
