Smart move by Margarito... Go for the money and the bigger name... Makes good business sense... Williams just needs to wait his turn... Build up his resume and get a mandatory bout with Margarito... He wouldn't be able to run then...

    oops...

        NO

Did Floyd walk around saying he was the most feared fighter?

        NO

Was he a champion? No, acquired a paper title when he beat Judah, a title that was rightfully Baldomir's. So he fought Baldomir and became the real champion.

Now explain to me how they both did the "exact same thing"
ok pito , let me school you.

floyd did specifically say " I duck nobody", turns around and ducks the WBO welterweight champion.

        floyd makes a business decision

Antonio Margarito does the same exact thing, makes a business decision

The whole "Mandatory" thing is a convenient thing to point to only when you want to make a distinction between the two cases where Margarito is ducking Williams and Floyd was ducking Margarito. I think, a tad bit too convenient.
Are you forgetting the thing about Paul Williams knocking down Margarito in sparring? Wouldn't Tony, if he's the warrior he claims, want to dispell these alleged rumors by taking him on in the ring?

All of that is hypothetical and I don't think being floored by a sparring partner is grounds enough to sell a fight on cable.

There are also mixed rumors, and I've read people claiming that Margarito knocked Williams out cold in addition to him being clocked.

Either way it's a ridiculous way to get a fight....that would be like Margarito calling Sergio Mora out on television and stating the factual that he beat his ass in a sparring match. Do you think Mora would give up his dreams of fighting for the MW title to go back and avenge a sparring loss to Margarito?

Whatever, Margarito was not his mandaroty, and Tony has ducked his mandatory for over a year - a mandatory who happens to be an undefeated fighter and a man most people choose as the #1 prospect in boxing today. He poses a real threat to Margarito - everyebody knows this. Tony poses no real threat to Floyd, and very little payoff if Floyd were to beat him. However, if Tony beat Williams, it would be a huge victory for him. Who has he ever beat?

Hey *******s....what if Maussa was Margarito's mandatory? would you make fifty threads about how he's ducking Cotto?
People are acting like Tony would actully be a threat to Floyd when in reality he is not.
Paul Williams is a fighter that Tony is willing to give up his belt not to face, he doesnt want to fight him that badly.
Lets see who his opponent is on the Cotto undercard.

If thats true why isnt Margirito taking this as a tuneup and beating a bigger named fighter for a fat paycheck?
Oh yeah, because its not true.

                      ok.....

                      Margarito ducks his mandatory

floyd ducks the reigning world champion

Margarito is a serious enough threat, enough for floyd to duck him. too big, too strong, too resilient, punching machine.
