I am not a huge Margarito fan but i don't hate him either. my problem with this statement is that this is exactly what i was saying when Floyd wouldn't fight Margarito. Everyone said that Marg hadn't done anything to deserve a shot and everyone was justifying Floyd in not fighting him. What has Willaims done?

what has Williams done? Ask the Wbo that, they have ranked him as the #1 contender. From my recollection, Williams done what he was supposed to do fight and defeat fighters in the ring. He earned his title shot and he ain't just been talking. Now I'm not knocking Margarito for ducking Williams for the bigger fight in Cotto. That is not the problem, the problem is all the mess he was talking all last year and then he turns around and does the same thing. The hypocrisy is the PROBLEM, not his actions necessarily. Williams is his mandatory, he doesn't want to defend against his mandatory. This is truly what a duck is, this right here is the definition. margarito should have fought Williams for the Clottey fight, then he wouldn't have an obstacle for the Cotto fight.

Margarito is looking to fight a tougher fight, and an extremely tough opponenet. How can this be considered a duck. i could see if he was fighting a lesser opponent but he is looking to take a major step up in competition. My problem is, there is a double standard here. Floyd does this and it is considered a smart business decision and it's not hurting boxing, but everyone is ready to pile on Margarito yet they justify Floyd. It's a bunch of bull****. If your gonna say this about Margarito you have to say Floyd did the same exact thing.

Why is it such a double standard when Floyd did the exact same thing the first time he was offered the fight with Margarito? It's kind of funny to me how when Floyd does this it is cosidered a smart business decision? The difference is at least Margarito is taking a step up in competition. Floyd didn't have a fight like that on the horizon. I don't want to hear he was waiting on Oscar because that wasn't until he was offered the fight the second time. Why would Marg fignht Williams if he has the oppurtunity to fight Cotto for more money and if he possibly wins there is more credibility in beating Cotto than Williams, bringing him one step closer to getting the types of fights he is looking for. I understand you are a Margarito hater and you like other Floyd fans are gonna look for any reason to hate on on Margarito, but it would be absolutely ****** of him to fight Williams over Cotto. Also I don't want to to hear if he gonna fight before Cotto why not Williams. Why would he fight Williams before fighting Cotto and risk the biggest fight of his career. I could understand him taking a fight to stay busy and not get rusty but to fight Williams before Cotto or instead of Cotto would be plain ******. I can see him taking a fight before Cotto to stay busy and not get rusty, but why would he take on a tough fight and risk the biggest oppurtunity of hi career that would be plain ******. How many fighters do you know would take on a tough opponent and risk ther shot right before the biggest fight of there life. The answer is no fighter, but you expect Marg to, that is just ******.

Because the guy is his mandatory, Margarito was never floyds mandatory. When you avoid a mandatory with massive tv exposure and has been openly calling you out, while you claim to be ducked, it kind of hurts your credibility.


Then you take a 10 round fight and basically vacate your title, while having said that guys like mosley, de la hoya, vargas, mayweather have all turned you down and claim they fear you (as he did say in the showtime pre fight show) then it makes you look bad.


But being a hypocrite is apart of boxing, so its nothing new.

How hard is it to understand why he would fight Cotto before Williams? Fighting Williams will do nothing for him in terms of the types of big fights that he is looking for. Fighting Williams is high risk low reward, and if he were to beat him everyone would just say that Williams was green and unproven. Fighting Cotto is a much bigger fight and a much bigger payday. He is taking a step up in competition, and if he were to beat Cotto it is more credible than Williams and being that Cotto is a more proven fighter. If he were to beat Cotto, it would put him a position to get the types of fights he wants. What part of that do you not understand? It's not that hard.

Because hes saying one thing and doing another, which is what every boxer does anyway. Your making it seem like your opinion on the matter is so concrete without understanding why the sentiment is like this towards him, you cant say everyone ducks you and your the most feared, then duck your mandatory who says he knocked your ass out in sparring and that you fear him.

Arturo Gatti openly ducked Floyd for about a year, but his criticism was minimized because he didint exactly call himself the most ducked/feared fighter in the game. Everyone knew he was doing it, but nobody was really trippin. Same with Hatton, hes always very much avoiding a match with floyd, but its not as bad since again, he doesnt call himself the most feared/ducked. But Margarito ran his mouth for months and is doing the same thing, so he deserves whatever flak he gets, i think you may say your not a big margarito fan, but you sure go out of your way to type long walls of text in his defense.

You may say that people are "butt hurt" over this, but your not exactly awknolwedging that Margarito looks kind of ****** saying what he said and then openly preparing to vacate his title and isnt willing to take on someone whos actually the same size as him, is just as big as him, and has a style just like him.

Which is ok, it means more money for margarito, but he shouldnt have built himself up like this if he doesnt want to be critisized.
