I think he will beat Peter.
Can Maskaev beat Peter?

I dont think he will. Peter is too strong, too powerful, too motivated and too confident since his last victory. Hasim Rahman is not a great fighter, nor is Sinan Samil Sam. James Toney is. Wladimir Klitschko is pretty ****ing good, and he knocked him down 4 times. Peter will win and then hopefully face and beat Wlad.Comment

He CAN outbox him... question is what are his chances of being able to dance for 12 rounds without getting caught.
As soon as he gets timed and hurt... it will be over for him
I spoke to him after the first Toney/Peter fight and asked if he feels he could win.
His response was
"we'll see"Comment

First of all, Maskaev was the underdog going into the Rahman fight... where he beat the crap out of him and almost knocked him the fk out of the ring again.I dont think he will. Peter is not a good fighter, you can not jump to that conclusion based on his last performance. In his first fight, he was out-boxed with ease and as many on this forum say "was schooled", with which I personally disagree.
I saw Rahman, with his Jab giving Maskaev alot more problems than Peter.
Keep in mind that Peter is a shorter man in this fight.
And lastly, Peter KD Wlad 3 times and not 4.
Wlad was fighting very scared and was grabbing him a lot and when he couldn't grab, he was falling down to avoid further exchanges.
I would not call them KD.. at least 2 out of 3Comment

The problem with Maskaev is his age, I don't think he'll be able to move enough to avoid Peter's hooks. I would say otherwise before last Saturday but Peter gained speed and is now a much more dangerous fighter. Whether it was a one time deal or he'll perform consistenly, only time will show. But if the same Peter shows up for Maskaev, I'll say that Maskaev would have to survive about 4-5 rounds and then pressure Peter, go for the body, and go for the TKO late in the fight. Maskaev does have the power (as opposed to Toney), it's surviving those early rounds where he will have the problem. Overall, I'll say that Peter will win this by KO/TKO 4.Comment
