Castillo vs. Hatton?

lolololololololol Damn, People overate Hattons inside game way to much. Hatton has the ugliest inside game I have ever seen.Anyone who struggles with weak-chinned Corrales would get the piss whipped out of them by Ricky Hatton. Castillo has a lot of balls, he's got that short punching mexican style but he would get cleanly outfought by Ricky Hatton. Ricky Hatton has the edge in every area except toughness.Last edited by HendrixLove; 01-08-2007, 06:50 PM.Comment

Believe it or not, I've actually seen more dimensions to Hatton's game. He can bull you around, he can box you, or he can punch you around and wear your energy.
I'm puzzled by how you guys can say Hatton doesn't move. the fighter i saw all over KT was all moves - shoulders, head and feet. Granted, it was all forward. Ricky can bob and shift well in exchanges and the best defense is a strong offense. I think he wins a close points decision .Comment

You know what it was? Hatton was the victim of considerably high expectations coupled with the inherent doubt that goes along with someone of his origin. Many in the US were primed to jump all over Hatton as soon as he stumbled.
Top be fair however; the networks and media are suffering more than the fans are. It isn't all their fault they did so much Hatton hyping prior to Ricky's American debut. Like one of the first posters on this thread stated:
"Boxing needs a guy like Ricky Hatton..."
What does that mean?
Is that like when Gerry Cooney's trainer told him "America Needs you..." -
when Cooney was fighting Larry Holmes in that 'race war?'
Certainly, it doesn't take the savviest and most honest boxing observers to know that the sport would benefit termendously from having a White superstar. That would surely bring in the fairweather contingent.
It certainly did when Holmes fought Cooney.
The Boxing community wants those fans back.
I think it's wrong all around. But this is the world we live in.
Ricky has been upsold to the fans because the media thinks they can mind**** people into anything at this point. Not to say Hatton didn't earn his consideration - he did.
I feel Ricky Hatton has been used.
They were trying to sell him so much they put alot of added expectation and pressure on a guy who is honest about his development. Ricky has my respect. Collazo did not "kill" or "whoop" Hatton. Let's not get crazy..
Ricky Hatton is a real mother****er. He's also a fantastic fighter.
Why the dissing?Comment

Hatton is one of the most beautiful movers and beautiful punchers I've ever seen in British Boxing, he has that wonderful rythm to his work like no other British boxer I've seen.Comment

The people dissing him will not acheive anything near what Hatton has acheived so it is downright disrespectful to have a go. Obviously Hatton isnt perfect, but what he does he does well. And if what he does wins him matches, then what more can anyone ask. Hatton doesnt claim he is this and that. He will happily plod along and do what hes gotta do.They were trying to sell him so much they put alot of added expectation and pressure on a guy who is honest about his development. Ricky has my respect. Collazo did not "kill" or "whoop" Hatton. Let's not get crazy..

Experts can see for themselves that Hatton does what he does well so have given him respect for that. So why cant everyone else see that?
If Hatton gets the opportunity to pit his skills against a Castillo or a PBF, Hatton will continue to do what he does well, and it mightt work as it usually does. Then again it might not. Lyold Honeyghan took out the number 1 p4p Donald Curry, and i can envision Hatton doing a number on PBF. Obviously some will disagree. But as for potential big future fights. This is the only one for me.Comment
