Floyd Patterson in terms of offense and maybe looks.
They both have that kengoroo jump when they launch with the left hook. Patterson though didn't have the shoulder roll defense.

Other then the one punch, no . Paterson came straight in with the peek a boo he was more of a fast handed brawler then a boxer .

you must have not watched a lot of patterson's fight if you think he always came straight at you peak-aboo style.

Have you seen the Chuvalo fight, which I believe was fight of the year.

Yeah I know he could and did box but PBF is a pure boxer Patterson is more boxer/puncher. There may have been this or that fight where they look alike but overall they are not the same . Yes I have seen the fight I agree it is one of the best .

Whitaker and Mayweather are not so much alike. They are both defensive wizrds...but thats about where the comparison ends.

Whitaker was such a bizarre puncher in that he'd fire off punches in combination from the strangest angles. Floyd is much more textbook with his punching and fires off stiffer, straighter punches more often.

Pernells defense relied a lot on feints, reflex and movement. He'd get you off balance with the feint and he'd duck out of the way of your punches completely. He's use every trick in the book to make you miss.

Bingo. Floyd was also more 'textbook' in that he keeps his chin tucked tighter more often. Also, he holds up his power hand to protect either his body or chin. Pernell stood a bit more square than Floyd does as well.

Whitaker and Mayweathers defence shouldent be compared IMO,they both have the best defence yes,but whitaker could back up without a guard and avoid punches,he could also squat to the ground and use his body and head movement and not get touched,Whitakers body movement was amazing, like Sugary Ray Leonard said,Pernell was the greatest defensive fighter ever (Add Willie Pep too)

In my opinion PBF is a combination of Toney and Whitaker, I think he resembles both Toney and Whitaker, it all depends on who he's fighting. This is another reason I believe why PBF is the most gifted boxer I've ever seen!
