Of the Middleweights that are active right now, Jerman Taylor has the best shot of retiring Hopkins BUT not now.Comment

It looked to me that when they met, Sturm was a tad quicker than De la Hoya. This makes him dangerous for Hopkins, especially, given that Sturm's style is to stay outside; slide and glide, stick out the jab, befuddle the opponent. His punch, though, is not the type that would deter Hopkins who can of course try and wade through the jabs to get to Sturm. Hop can roughhouse. But Sturm is a natural middleweight, an equally big man and would not be easy for Hopkins to manhandle. Sturm has shown stamina and consistency:he can keep excellent pace through 12 rounds moving side-to-side and in-and-out. Hopkins cannot employ a wait out tactic, i.e., wait for Sturm to tire out in the later rounds. He'd have to chase Sturm every round and grab him. I think, in Hopkins-Sturm,the referee's officiating style would have much to do with the fight result.Comment
