Right, that was my point. He could get wild at times as is evident in the McClellan fight but for the most part he threw very technically sound, crisp punches. When he came out against Watson in the first round he was throwing some of the most tight, coiled and snapping punches I've ever seen. He shouldnt be put anywhere near the punching category of a Mayorga or Margarito.
Who threw wide, looping punches...

there is often alot of power in these wide looping haymakers but the problem isn;t power, no half decent boxer will let you land these unless you throw as many-with the same power-as foreman did!Comment

Benn was not an arm puncher at all.
Gerry Cooney, Max Baer, Samuel Peter are similar punching fighters to Foreman.
Foreman was not unique, but he was a rarity. Few men possessed the kind of natural strength and heavy handedness to be effective with this style.Comment

Can't believe I was the first to name Max Baer. That's the first name to pop in my head when I hear "looping punch", even before Foreman.Comment

Cooney wasn't a looping puncher. His left hook was pretty locked up, & was at it's most powerful when thrown resembling a half-hook, half-uppercut.
His right hand.....was non-descript & powerless.Comment
