I predict more of the same..
Toney being somewhat more effective at countering and winning the 1st half of the fight..And Peter's power and youth taking over the 2nd half... And whatever the outcome someone screaming ROBBERY.. so I hope it ends in KO.. but that seems unlikely..
I'm going out on a limb here, but I think that Toney will find a way to knock Sam Peter out in the later rounds. My reasoning for this is that James Toney is supposively getting into tip top shape with tae bo guru Billy Blanks and I think that Toney knows that if he doesn't win this fight then his career as a hw(and as a fighter) might be over.
I was re watching the Peter- Klitschko fight once again and it struck me that Sam Peter may have some endurance problems. Now, yes, it's not unheard of for a heavyweight to gas out...but Peter never has a huge punch output, and yet he tires quite a bit- throwing one punch and puffing for another fifteen seconds. Part of this may be of his wild, looping punches that do little to conserve energy..but..
I truly believe that the last few years we've watched James Toney sink into a fog of mediocrity- a self imposed degrading of physical health and a lapse in passion and drive. I feel as if he's been coasting on his raw skill...not pushing himself, not trying to prove anything. We always say it...if Toney comes in to a fight in shape...when was the last time James really came in fit? Probably before he became a heavyweight. A draw with an awkward, undeserving Rahman and then his loss to Peter....you can only do so little and still remain on the radar. I hope this has gotten him motivated to actually remind us why his name once meant anything at all.
Should I sound like a broken record and say, "If Toney shows up in shape..." or just admit that he will doom himself not coming in at a good level of fitness?
Sam Peter by SD if Toney is still a chunky, lazy bastard on fight night.
Toney by a solid, UD by several rounds or even a late TKO if he is in shape.
