    Hey guys (and girls?)

Well this is my first post so I guess I'll introduce myself.

I play football for my highschool team, and I'm a middle linebacker..but I don't really get what I want to out of it. So I want to get into this because I really want to prove something to myself. But the problem is, I don't really think my parents are so into it.

Is there any advice you can give me on how to tell them I want to box? I am very athletic, and I have strong arms so I think I'll do well. Also, if they do say yes, can you tell me what I will need to start? Im 14, 145lbs,
    and 5'11".

If you read this I really thank you. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Glad to hear from you young man. Only one piece of advice. Avoid Exig3, a member whom tries to sell **** and Iraqi torture videos. Steer clear of boxingscene's resident dwarf and you'll be fine!

I said, hey mom, can I join boxing. After my step father talked her into it she got uptight about what it would cost for me to box. She was confident that I couldnt afford it so we all went down to the gym to check it out. When the manager of the gym told her that it was $10 a year, you should have seen the look on her face. I was sold and I was in...............Rockin'

This needs to be posted in the training section, which is where this will probably be moved.

Is that really needed in the NSB? Take it to the dome.

              Welcome btw.

Keep in mind you're gonna take on someone your own size, not a smaller receiver or running back.
Boxing's not for everyone, you have to sacrifice a lot to be a boxer, might be easier to just stick to football. Give it a shot without telling your parents and if you think boxing's for you then have your trainer call them up and talk to them, show them the amateur protective gear, talk about discipline, individual achievements and all that crap.
