Never thought I would see the day but PBDS and I agree on something. I agree with this statement. Tyson was nothing more than a brawler and half of the guys he beat he beat on reputation alone. Some guys were scared to fight out of fear of his legend and they may have stood a chance but they didnt even try to fight. If you look at his early fights, quick tillis actually outboxed Tyson but no-one used his fight as a blueprint.[/QUOTE]

No way Tyson was just a brawler. People who say that don't know Tyson or never watched him fight. I'm not a huge fan of Tyson but he's probably the most overrated fighter ever only because he is a waste of talent.

Tyson was trained by the best and was an unstoppable force at one point in his career. He got lazy, surrounded himself with "yes" people and failed to understand what it took to stay on top.

His skill was unmatched at one point though. He had incredible hand speed and upper body movement for a heavyweight. Not to mention one of the hardest hitters in the history of the sport. Unfortunatly that's not all you need and he wasn't very smart and refused to allow the people that truly cared about him help him like Teddy Atlas and Kevin Rooney. They gave him tough love and he didn't like that.

Tyson is like a comet that shined so bright but fizzled away so quickly. He's a "should have been".

Actually I followed his career quite closely, along with many other fighters. he had power but not unearthly power like George Foreman, or Earnie Shavers or some of the other real heavy hitters out there. Tyson had good head movement yes, but boxing ability and power no. He was strong but not out of this world like some fighters of the past.
