Every fight it seems I score at least one even round. I don't mind scoring a round even when I really feel like neither fighter had the upper edge. I score 10-8 rounds when one fighter is getting beat up pretty good or is hurt. 10 point system, why not use the points?

I really don't think judging is a problem in boxing, in fact I think the different way fights are scored give the sport character, character and individuality that you can't find in any other sport. I'm not in favor of horrible judges or crooked decisions, but judges who score fights and see fights differently based on their own interpretation of what they are seeing, IMO is a good thing. We don't need robot judges, just like we don't need robot refs using stopwatches to time knock downs. Boxing gets its character from the people involved being human

The day when some kind of formula is devised to indefinitely score a boxing match is the day boxing is officially dead

If a round is that close, you are probably scoring it with more than a fair share of bias. A 10-10 round is the most subjective and fair solution to a very close round IMO. Otherwise you're liable to give it to your favorite fighter by zeroing in on things he did while ignoring small things the other guy might have done.

if u cant positively give the round to either fighter than you shouldnt. im all for drawn rounds. lets not give the round to one for the sake of not having an 'even' on the scorecard. im with whoever said the scope of the scoring system should be used more. there should be alot more 10-8 rounds when a guy is gettin dominated.

I usually score even rounds in situations where there's little being done by either fighter. If, for example, one's pressing forward but not landing anything, and the other's backing up but blocking, and both score about six shots each of equal force, I'll just mark it 10 10. If neither has done anything to really outclass their opponent, then why do they deserve to be ahead by a point for the session, you know what I mean?

It's not something I do frequently, but it's something I do in close sessions where neither man did anything to "lose" the round.

Thoughts? (No flaming - adult discussion only, please)

You always try and find a winner or do your best but I am a fan of an even round here and there, especially in a super fight when in the first round all they do is stare at one another and your expected to come up with a winner.

I rarely score an even round. I usually see something to edge a win for the round rather it be someone getting hurt, ring generalship, etc.

Even rounds aren't a bad thing. A lot of first rounds end up even when all the fighters do is feel eachother out and nothing gets done. Other than that I try to avoid it, but if I can't decide I'm not gonna just give the round to one fighter. To me that doesn't seem fair.

If you think a round is even, score it even. Don't give one guy a round over the other if he really doesn't deserve it...

You never see Lederman do it and he's the most consistently correct judge in the world.

Even rounds are for people who don't see so well if you ask me. Every round has a winner and if you can't find him, then it's a good thing you aren't a judge. Not flaming, just telling it like it is.

I think even rounds should be used far more often and I also think title fights should be 13 rounds so that it is and odd # to slightly lower tha chances of it being a draw.

For me, I could never find it in me to score even rounds because there is so much going on in the ring at all times. If a guy is setting something up and the other is backing away from his advances all night, I'm scoring it for the guy who looked more engaging in the ring. I can understand why some would, but for me every round has a winner and a loser. As long as you know what you're looking at, every fight is easy to score.
