You guys should be giving Ouma credit, the guy was kidnapped when he was 5 to join the Ugandan army, he has had a ****ing tough life, if he could overcome that im sure he could overcome most of the stuff, he is'nt scared of anyone. Ouma took taylors shots he has a damn good chin any middleweight would'nt have been able to take those shots, Taylor comfortably won 11 rounds there, through out the whole fight he was throwing quality punches.

Some of you need to stop the Taylor hate because he beats your favourites. Taylor is supposed to be green and will just get better, watch the future.
Most of my posts last night were drunken disappointment. I have exams, haven't done **** all weekend, I hope to see a great fight either way...and the fight was rather boring. I realize that Taylor beat Ouma thoroughly...I understand who Ouma is...he is one of my favorite fighters around. You can't help but love the guys story and the way he comes to fight every night.

This is just plain old disappointment. I want Taylor to come out and blast someone out for once like he is supposed to. Maybe that's what it'll take for me to stop being so critical of him.

Patience my friend, Taylor will be a very dominant champion once he reaches his prime. I was actually happy the fight went to distance because I did'nt want to see Ouma KTFO...I like him and hearing his story is sad, thats why I was hoping he is safe and the fight goes to distance, Ouma is a tough fighter with a rock solid chin. Taylor is facing Sergio Mora next to set up a fight with Joe Calzaghe in July, I see people critising a green Taylor, but Calzaghe is in his prime and he barely beat Sakio Bika and does'nt get critised for that, I think it would be a close fight, Taylor will win it with his counterpunching skills alone, and im sure Steward, Nelson and Burns will make a few more improvements.

Also the fact Taylor was pressurised he was in his hometown, etc. and he was possibly overlooking Ouma, but he still won 10 rounds, the only thing he did'nt do is knock him out and thats because is Ouma is a tough SOB..his chin is rock solid.

I was pretty sure you only had to convince the judges to win a fight I wasnt aware your opinion really mattered oldgringo. Winky was still one the p4p best so to barely beat him is still pretty good as far as im concerned

I agree with Oldgringo on this. Taylor has arguably lost 3 of his last 4 fights. Everybody objective knows that he's HBO's poster boy. I thought that Taylor lost the fight to Winky & hasn't looked like the fighter HBO's been trying to push. His power does seem overated & he wasn't able to really dent Ouma. After the weighin he usually blows up to over a 170 lbs. With that kind of strength advantage, he still wasn't able to stop him. Ouma has been down against Karmazin & I think Rubio; all Jr. Middle's.

                1. taylor still has to show a performance that makes me say; "i want to see more of this fighter". If all you guys are pleased, by what you saw so far, what can i say... good for you!

                2. everyone can have his own opinions about how some fights are scored. opinions are opinions. anyone saying "the result is what matters" is full of **** and just using this argument today, bcos it supports their point.

                3. Taylor is 28 and he had a remarkable amateur career. when is his prime going to begin?

I mean... when i watch him, i think he is green just like some of you do, but his demographics make me think he is not going to get much better than this.

I honestly dont think that Taylor is great but to say he sucks because he barely beat one of the best middleweights ever in B-Hop and tied one of the top p4p guys is ridiculous noone else even made it close with B-hop, there is a lot of middle ground between sucking and being exciting. If people were arguing about him being exciting or not I think hes not but whats being argued is effectiveness hes undisputed he did it the right way by beating "THE MAN" in his weight class he deserves some props

He sucks? Try and getting in a ring with an elite fighter. Respect the man for christsake. Taylor isn't no one dimesional Lacy that would be dominated by Calzaghe.

                      Lets see here...

                      1) Gringo is one of my favorite posters.

                      2) Hopkins had two cracks at Taylor and if you are gonna critisize Jermain you cannot forget to throw some at Bernard's feet as well-he fought the same fight twice, how smart is that?

                      3) I agree Calzaghe whips Taylor but if everyone is predicting Calzaghe to smash Jermain who do you like between Joe and Bernard? I know styles make fights but lets be real here Joe poses some serious style problems for Bernard "10 punch a round" Hopkins.

                      4) Taylor and Bernard are similiar, they both due there best work against Junior middleweights.

                      5) The 2 best middleweight Hopkins ever fought...Jones and Taylor...Im sorry I have not always been a hater, I knew who the Junkyard Dog was long before most and he used to be one of my favorite fighters, post Tito he became tighter with his punches then my wife is with the pocket book (my wife is ***ish)...he was absolutely awful too watch post Tito and that is when he became this superstar in the eyes of the fans...Im an old school Hopkins fan, the new Bernard is nothing to get excited about and I refused to sit quietly when he gives mediocre perfromaces and people call those mediocre perfromces defensive art! It was clear after the Eastman fight that whoever decided to let there hands go a bit against NArd was going to have a real shot, forget landing punches Gringo Bernard is so inactive in the squyared circle all you have to do is let your hands go a bit and your gonna be right there come decision time.
