the point is that margarito is simply an average fighter at his true weight class. he would be a journeyman in the 70's, 80's, or 90's. guys like oba carr, campas, etc. would beat him.

Whats wrong with being average? He's winning isn't he? I never have made him out to be King Kong. And Mayweather would also be a contender in the 70-90s at welterweight.

Oba Carr likes to trade punchs, that'd be his downfall and i like Carrs style but his easy find.

Campas, would be a war, but i have to belive that the work rate would bother Campas a lot. Campas is a willing target, i'd pick Margarito over Campas. Campas beats you when you have trouble taking his punch.

Three years down the line Margarito will stil be champion, i don't see anybod with the tools to beat Margarito, Floyd of course has a chance but he's retireing and everybody think Floyd is untouchable so why even force him into a fight he doesn't want.

IMO, he also looked like **** against, Santos, Perez II, and Lujan. But, that was on first watch. You have to see the little things fighters do to acknowlege their style. Margarito ain't a pretty fighter, he just gets it done. If you watched this fight then you would see Margarito is a smart fighter. How many times have you seen fighters just start at each other and not throw punchs.....which Margarito at least flicks out his jab. Honestly, i think many people have bought into the Margarito fight without thinking for themselves so the expected more from Margarito when they didn't get that 'more' they try to drown him as is evidence in this website. If you seen the fight, tell me, did the crowd boo Margarito when he was announced the winner? No, the didn't. And keep in mind this was in NY, blacks and Puerto Ricans in the crowd and they actually cheered for Margarito in the fight.

Mayweather would be way more than just a contender in the 70,80s. I think Mayweather knows he is too good for Margarito and doesn't want to waste his time and energy on a fighter that isn't that big of an attraction.

Margarito hadn't fought in 10 months and the fight he had lasted 1 and a half minutes...and before that it was almost 1 year.....so it was rust what got him not clottey...and if he is overrated like a these gayweather fans state then have gayweather ,cotto or whoever you think is better, beat him..the thing is he hasn't lost in 8 years and everyone is afraid of him..he is easy money right?....why not beat him take his belt and make some dough....the reason.....that even in an off night he still wins...

There was nothing intelligent or smart about this fight, he won because the guy broke his hand, before this, he was gettin stuck all 4 rounds, and even when the guy had the injury, was getting placekicked with every punch in the book, the guy isnt that good. Hes not pretty because hes ****in sloppy, and no matter what, your always going to say otherwise, but its just a fact, hes sloppy and not very good.

As usall I see a lot of hate regarding Margarito and im the one most of you call hatfull. Take a look in the mirror and look at your hatefull post.

After reading the thread of the round by round its clear 90 percent of you have not followed Margaritos career. Have not seen his past fights.

You guess were expecting Margarito to have Tyson power, sorry to disapoint but he don’t have that type of power, he has good power to ko any fighter but to a certian point. Clottey had his guard so high the whole fight that it was not easy landing a clean head punch at will, but Margarito landed many body shots on him and keep Clottey on defence and head shots also got through.

And lets be honest, Clottey wanted to quit, it was his corner that didn’t want the fight to be stopped by not responding to Clotteys request.

Clottey did good, but to say he won when he was on defence all night is ridicules. Clottey may have hurt his wrist, but so did Margarito and it was clearly seen on film that Margarito skinned his nuckle, but the haters who seen the fight wont mention this. I belive it was in the 4 or 5 round that Margarito put a beating on Clottey and in this round it is clearly visable that Margarito took the fight out of Clottey. Did Clottey win the first four rounds, no he didn’t.

And what did some of you newbies expect? Margarito is a slow starter, he started slow again Lujan and then dominated later. Many of you sound as if you have never even seen Margarito fight and were expecting Margarito to be technicly sound, to have super human ko power, to have the best foot work in boxing. Relax, Margarito works for his win, gets hit while winning a fight, has trouble with his opponets from time to time, after all it is a fight and he is fighting a live body. I think before this fight many of you talked out your ass about Margarito; describing him in this way or that way. Then when your expectations weren’t meet, you drown the guy. But this is cause you were really clueless how Margarito fights and your opinions were just that opinions. Oppinions on fight clips you’ve seen and not complete Margarito fights.

Will Margarito beat Floyd yes he will, at least I still belive this. 8 millions reasons tell me that Floyd saw somthing in Margarito that scares him, beside all the Margarito brings to the table. Im not talking bull****ing just telling the truth.

And I guess when Margarito gets the Williams fight, he’ll get respect for that win - yeah right, haters will continue to hate on Margarito. Margarito will just have to keep winning and at the end will be the “Last Man Standing.”

Broke his hand....???? what fight did you watch...did you see the interviews after the fight ...clottey's hand wasn't even swelled up...which would have proved a broken hand,,,,and it was not bloodied either...if you notice margarito's hand which had a bloodied knucke and swelling from his hand to his wrist...that would prove that was a broken wrist like he mention...Margarito will let you hit him and he will still attack ..if you have weak hands and they get hurt..that is part of boxing...just like cuts...remember one of the judges gave margarito 11 rounds!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,,,

Mayweather shuts out the 147 champ with a broken hand, Margarito looks terrible against a guy ranked anywhere from 8-15th at 147 who had a hurt hand. Be serious.
