5. Curtis Stevens: Brooklyn, NY 14-1 (11 KO)
One half of the Chin Checkers, Curtis Stevens' intimidating presence in the ring elicits flashbacks of another Bedford Stuyvesant product, Mike Tyson. Punishing combinations to the body and head also help his cause, which has seen 10 of his opponents fall within two rounds.
Stevens' only setback as a professional came against spoiler Marcos Primera. Leading on all the judges cards and cruising to a victory in the eighth of a ten-rounder, Stevens imploded due to fatigue and was stopped, although the case can be made that the fight was halted early.
Stevens has crushing power, but his primary weakness comes when matched against movers. He needs to cut the ring off better and his stamina is iffy, but the future is looking bright for Stevens, who at only 21 has a bright and prosperous future ahead of him.Comment

It's a terrible shame, but there is alot of talent here that just needs to be cultivated. It's tough really, but it's alot better than say, I dunno, Oklahoma.Comment

I just put him at 3 because hes a Heaveyweight, I have a bias, the bigger the guy the bigger the accomplishment. Hes a respectable heavie so I moved him near the top
Duddy, I'm gonna have that memeory of a crusty old Luis Campos beating him around the ring for a long time....Comment

Damn, I been outta the loop! Benitez and Delvin are in NY now? I thought Delvin was from CT and Benitez was living in MA. I know Benitez was originally from NY tho. I had the opportunity to see his first pro fight and talk to him afterwards. Real cool kid, I'm hoping the best for him.
Anyway, I guess I misunderstood the topic. I thought it was fighters currently living in ny, not originally from.Comment
