That's just a statistic; not something i'm happy to repeat. And I don't say things just for the sake of it.

You are misinterpreting popularity. It means popularity in terms of overall mainstream coverage and attention. Just because it's not a jock sport doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of thousands of people doing it, let alone watching it.

Look at the Olympic coverage for a start. I'm from Britain and last Olympics we sent one fighter as opposed to figure skaters.

Boxing is seen as the cesspool of the sports world, man. No organization; just a bunch of cutthroats trying to one up each other and vying for power not because they need it, but because it's there.

that's the way boxing is. a big part of the appeal is its primitive nature and the savagery of the sport.

at least gatti and ward got their big paydays. plenty of unknowns fight brutal fights and get paid little.

the trilogy is overrated anyway. the last 2 fights weren't all that great.

gatti's 1st fight with robinson was better than gatti-ward 1, and the rematch with ivan was better than fights 2 and 3 against ward.
