But all im getting at is for Froch to stop calling out Joe just yet. Beat someone people respect first. That is how the boxing world works.
Yeah, Starie was very good. Quite a few were tipping him to beat Joe, saying how Joe had been groomed for stardom by Frank Warren (yeah, right) yet Starie did everything Joe had done ('93 ABA 156 champ, '94 ABA 165 champ, debut on Lennox undercard, conqueror of Dean Francis in amateurs, British super-middle champ) and how his straight punches would beat Joe's supposedly 'wide' hooks, etc.

Man, that was a hell of a borefest mind, wasn't it? Not a good first impression for Joe Blow on Showtime, being boo'd out the building like that.

I'd say Froch is more raw power and awkwardness than talent.. he's not a gifted fighter by any meaning, but he's capable of beating any fighter on the planet with the way he fights, them uppercuts come from nowhere..

He's talented, he had glittering amateur success without even training. He just boxed for a crack.

And he's never even been hurt in the ring, let alone down.

Spar him, then you'll know first hand how talented/tough he is.

I have already! Back in the 90's.

I put him in the category of Ryan Rhodes at the time.

Was that a compliment? I haven't seen much of Rhodes.

Was he a powerhouse back then too?

Ryan Rhodes was an excellent prospect in the mid-90's, basically just hard to hit and hard at hitting, and awkward. I put Froch in that bracket at the time. Rhodes was still supposed be something back then.

Are you saying Joe's punches are not wide?

I didnt see Calzaghe v Starie, but i heard Joe hurt his hand in that fight. But i dont think Froch has beaten someone as good as Starie just yet, but people talk about Froch being the best Supermiddle.
Froch is good and confident, but there are lots of guys like Froch. Haye thinks he can hang with the best, Enzo does as well etc etc. Haye stepped up in class and was taken out by the old man the cat.
