Wasn't Oscar 22 or 23...Whitaker was around 32 I believe and was a lot more experienced.Originally posted by fountinoSomeone tell me why Dlh, a much older DLH will cut off the ring and catch PBF when the younger DLH couldn't catch a older Sweet Pea? I think this fight will be much like that fight except Dlh will miss more and be caught with more shot than in the sweet pea fight.Comment

yeah, then why in the hell am i not, huh? i'll answer that for you, because it is going to happen, trust me.You should be embarrassed for posting that. Obviously De La Hoya is a step up in class for Mayweather, and i believe 100% that De La Hoya will win this fight. Credit to both fighters for making this fight happen.
True, Mayweather is probably the best p4p in the fight game today and has beaten good fighters i.e. Castillo, Corley, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir... and although De La Hoya isn't very active i still think that that won't play a part in the outcome and he'll have what it takes on the night.Comment

De La Hoya is obviously the biggest fight to date for Mayweather, i think it is a bit narrow minded of you to be so convinced that he'll embarrass De La Hoya! In the initial post that i replied to you seemed to make a convincing argument for both fighters yet ended up so sure that Mayweather would win. I think it'll be an excellent fight, but don't be surprised if De La Hoya wins by decision or late stoppage!Comment

yes, becasue i give credit where credit is due. obviously, this is the biggest fight floyd's ever been in, but not the toughest fight he'll be in. yeah, i gave oscar tons of credit, because he deserves credit, the man is amazing. i'll never say he's not. but, i also stand by every word i typed in. floyd is going to humiliate oscar when they fight. it will happen. i'm not narrow minded and my argument isn't either. oscar is a legend and floyd will be a legend eventually, but i know how floyd's going to train for this fight and he will demolish oscar. we can agree to disagree all we want, and that's fine, but mark my words, come may 5 2007, oscar de la hoya will lose decisively to floyd mayweather.De La Hoya is obviously the biggest fight to date for Mayweather, i think it is a bit narrow minded of you to be so convinced that he'll embarrass De La Hoya! In the initial post that i replied to you seemed to make a convincing argument for both fighters yet ended up so sure that Mayweather would win. they both won their first titles at 130, mayweather isnt stretching it anymore at 154 as de la hoya was at 160.. its a small advantage, but not one that will make or break this fight......
honesty if oscar wanted he could probably still come down comfortably to 147 and whoop cotto or hattons ass(es)...Comment

Thats his fault really. He did jump several divisions but
who did he fight?Lets see:
at 147 lbs:
Sharmba Mitchell,Zab Judah,Carlos Manuel Baldomir
at 140 lbs:
Arturo Gatti,Henry Bruseles,DeMarcus Corley,
This resume is hardly what we call impressive especially
with guys like Hatton, Cotto, KT, and yes even Margarito fighting
in the same division. There maybe some valid reasons why these fights havent taken place but ordinary fans dont care. All they know is that it didnt happen and much of the finger pointing is being directed at Floyd.
PBF is P4P number 1 because of past glories, Namely his fights at 130 lbs
where he beat alot of bad ass fighters.Nevertheless, When you are on top, alot of responsibilty is on your shoulders to give fans what they want, and that is fight the match fans dream to see.Unfortunately, PBF has failed in that regard.Comment
